Think that's right. Especially when Fitzpatrick, Gawn, Martin and maybe McDonald could also play forward. We will try and bolster the engine room.

Basing our future on Cook who finished in Casey seconds doesn't fill me any great certainty, neither does Fitzpatrick and McDonald as forwards. the rest are ruckman.

We desperately need big blokes to kick to under pressure and currently we should not stand to have Watts and Jurrah pretend to be the go to key forwards for 2011.

We definitely need to recruit some big and strong men.

Yeah that's my thinking. I hope to God Cook comes along but at this stage I'm not sold. I'm concerened over Fitzpatrick on whether he can fulfill our needs longterm, but think he'll benefit from more game-time at Snr level and at Casey. Can't see him developing into the big KPF that we're after though.

Watts at this stage has been very solid, and I like his game a lot but giving him another big buddy down in the forward will help him, not only in the short term but also in the long term. This would enable Jurrah to be released and play as a very, very dangerous third tall down in the forward line for us.

Those who have touted Gawn, Jamar and Martin as possible options down forward are forgetting that they would only be spending periods of time down there, they would not be playing specifically as a 'forward'. They'd more than likely be rotating through there. I don't believe that would necessarily enable us to kick a 'winning' score. They could be dangerous from time to time, but I don't reckon it addresses our need, it'd be more a 'spot-gap' solution. I really think we need another big bodied player, with susbtantial ability in the forward. For me, forwards win games.

I'm well aware of importance of the midfield too in the modern game, but I'm not sure drafting another 18yo mid would enable us to advance anymore than what we have. A mature bodied player, with some pace I reckon could be the go in this area. Though off the top of my head I can't think of anyone who could possibly suit us.

Cook was injured mate, didnt even finish the year with Casey, Fitzpatrick has "upside" i know but is very mobile for his size and is big like 198 no?

I think we need another Class Mid more than a developing forward atm

Who would you look at? Doubt we'd get any of the 17yo's, but what about Lachie Whitfield? Sounds very solid, think he'd get to us at 12?

From what i hear Lachie Whitfield isnt eligible for the 17yo draft, and is firming as the #1 for the 2012 draft.... well top 3-5 its along way out, so cant see us drafting him

I like the sound of Crouch tbh, obviously O'Meara but he will cost ALOT... Crouch may be a relative steal in comparison and alot of people rate him just behind or equal to the hyped O'Meara

Im not a draft expert, i try and follow phantoms anddraft combines ect... i would rate a strong inside mid, to be cliche "Best available"

I just see a pick in the 7yo draft being like a top 5 pick which we have zero chance of getting with our list being to good atm, not that this is a bad thing

After watching the draft player videos i am interested to see who demonlanders want to pick up at pick12:

ill kick it off with about 5 players any of which i would want to get at pick 12

Sam docherty: dashing HBF uses the ball well out of defence

Liam sumner: gets a fair bit of it, good in close and not a bd mark for his size

Toby greene: similar to sumner, very good in and under player

Brad mckenzie: reads the play well and has a beautiful left foot

Mitchell grigg: finds plenty of the ball avg 24 touches, nice left foot and can kick a goal

ATM im leaning towards a Docherty or Grigg!! Interested to hear other ppls opinions

I like what I see in Grigg but don't think he will be available, Toby Greene & Liam Sumner could be available at 12 so would not be sad to see one of them taken. I heard a lot earlier about Todd Elton but do we need another young tall.

We need to add midfielders that can break lines. Players that can run and carry and more importantly hit targets. We need outside speed that can find the footy and hit targets.

Sounds like you are describing Jamie Bennell in the next couple of seasons.

I'm going to lose my [censored] if we draft another skinny kid who I can out bench press, are there any Hurley types in this draft that we can take with 12?

Trenners#9 I love the enthusiasm, that was a loud post!!

Haha thanks, it was suppose to be a topic not realising there was already one started.

btw what u mean lol?? loud post??

Well with all the exclamation points I felt inclined to not read it, but shout it.

My neighbours don't have any opinions on Docherty or Grigg..

Yer i think i may of got abit carried away lol. is that better ^ :)

Okay by my calculations, our first pick will be pick 12 in the next draft.

We will definitely not use the scully picks until next years draft as that is meant to be far superior.

Gold Coast - pick 4

Port - Pick 6

Brisbane - pick 8

Adelaide - pick 10

Melbourne - pick 12

on a side note, i'm running my first marathon on the 9th October and am running for the Cancer Council, seeking kind-hearted people (or loaded people!) to chip in something for the foundation. My link. I've been a long-term poster on this site and whilst a lot of people have disagreed with my football ideas and opinions, i hope to put that aside and do something good. Sounds a bit like debt-demolition!

Good Luck Freak.

I wish you all the best on the day and really hope you get the job done and finish. It's a fantastic feeling; one which I enjoyed for the first time last year, and hope to do again this sunday too. :)

Go Dees and Go Freak.

Good luck to you both, it is a good feeling, far beter than the one enjoyed 16 years later after awakening from the knee replacement, but don't let me dicourage you. Now back to the Heathcote Chiraz thread.

I'd rather rookie another young ruck, who would be just about ready for Casey 1sts for 2013. He could spend the first year between Casey 2nds & their seniors. This would give us a lead in to 2013 for the Lad if we trade one out next years trade period.

Use our picks this season on strong Mids. & a small forward.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round.
