I'd love to know, in all honesty, why you rate him so highly.

In other words, what have you seen of him that's making you so insistent he's a bona-fide star?

This isn't a wind up. I'd just really like some background.

OK

I have seen this kid play live on approx 6 occassions.

Eastern Ranges 08 Squad & Vic Metro on Final day of carnival in 08

On all occassions he has lit the field up with blistering pace, silky skills on both sides of his body

& above all finds the ball 20plus times a game & breaks lines.

Yes I have only seen him play @ under 18 level however the fact that he was smaller than most out there

& that alone didnt hinder his ability to dominate should carry over into the AFL against bigger bodies.

They simply couldn't catch him & his evasive skills are outstanding.

Word is his leg has healed fine & there will be no complications & his pace won't be effected.

I have also had discussions with a couple of close sources to the Blease family

who where mates with his late father. Both speak in glowing terms of his passion & drive

to suceed @ the highest level.

Interesting story relayed was when he arrived @ the club he demanded a meeting with Jimmy & Cam Scwhabb.

He demanded to be given No.17 ( I think ) the same number his father wore during his VFA career for Camberwell.

He didn't get his way & was told he would have to earn his stripes to get a lower Number.

Apparently when Sam had left both looked @ each other smiling & where wrapt the kid had the balls to

call the meeting with the Prez & CEO & both said out loud Future Captain.

& Finally the kid is already great mates with one Tom Scully.

Will cause havoc with The Flash in the same Midfield / Forward Line in 2010.

He looks the goods. Reminds me of a young Daniel Ward / Toy Broadbridge.

Haha... He reminds me of Julia Gillard, Ginger Megs and Steve O'Dwyer as well... Is it his footy that reminds you of these guys or his "Ranganess"?

Give Blease jumper 17.

Rory Sloane jumper 31 after we trade our first pick for him.

&

Pendlebury jumper 10 when he comes over in 2013!

Well, 17 is available. Why not let him have it as a signing bonus when he extends his contract for 5 years?

No more 5 Year contracts... Max 4 for the likes of Frawley or Trengove.

No more 5 Yr Flash seals.

Steady on!

If you're going to set yourself up as the Oracle you've got to embrace your other calls too.

Let's take a trip down memory lane with Oracle Man Rivers:

How about we start with Chris Johnson?

OMR '100% agrees' that we have a player with Chris Johnson.

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=815&view=findpost&p=9241

OMR disagrees that his comment was too enthusiastic; CJ is going to 'own the wing at the 'G for a decade'

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/815-chris-johnson-comes-of-age/page__view__findpost__p__9249

How about PJ?

Paul Johnson 'could be anything' //did that include being a delist before 25? - Rogue

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=818&view=findpost&p=9269

Let's move to Johnstone:

TJ 'developed genuine leadership' back in 2006, apparently

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1547&view=findpost&p=18134

Okay, let's take Neitz:

'Not convinced' Neitz should be playing FF in 2006 //Neitz went on to kick 68 goals - Rogue

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=921&view=findpost&p=10474

How about some players still on our list?

Bartram 'will be important over the next decade'

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1045&view=findpost&p=12319

Bate is a 'star in the making' that 'should remain in the team for the next decade plus'

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1319&view=findpost&p=15125

Dunn to be an 'important cog' by the end of 2008.

CAC 'got it right' when he picked up Dunn.

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=715&view=findpost&p=8289

The suggestion that Dunn should be dropped was 'garbage' because 'that day wont come for at least a decade'. Why? 'The kid is special'.

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1552&view=findpost&p=18282

Calling Dunn soft is bordering on stupidity

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1930&view=findpost&p=23170

My favourite:

Carroll is a 'star'

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1933&view=findpost&p=23180

That said, your hit rate is probably as good as Nostradamus.

NB. I've made incorrect calls - I was all sorts of wrong on McLean - but I also don't start up threads boasting that I'm the oracle :P

Rogue & especially little Mr Fushcia

Thanks for the negative response to what was a light hearted attempt @ higlighting the scintalating form of Sam Blease

in what has been a dark year for our great club.

Knowing the emotional journey this kid has been on over the past 5 years I thought it would be a nice to revisit

his meeting with The Prez when he 1st arrived @ the club.

Rogue - Some interesting reading in your homework, not sure what provoked your attack however has been noted.

Mr Fushcia - You just enjoy going about sucking the life out of everything you come in contact with your bullsh_t Wisdom quotes.

So what do both of you actually think of the form of Sam Blease in the past 3 weeks?

Funny thread to read.

You did not start this thread to discuss Blease, you started it to congratulate yourself.

You have been given a internet version of a Trengove sling tackle. Just take it and move on.

Now that would be special bobby. Sam certainly seems to have the Bluey's pace. Let's give him the #6.

He has a long way to go before we give him that tag.

Off to school? Nice try Old Man.

Didn't miss the point - just didn't agree with that particular bit.

Even in context, it's a bit ridiculous.

And, OMR....thanks I thought that was intersting reading.

"Rogue, coming in off the long run from the Members Pavilion end....."

Some research there Rogue.

Great to see Blease yesterday perform in that manner. I've compared him to a young David King around when he was drafted. There's still some things for him to work on, but I can see a fitter Blease being able to cope better ie. with his judgement on closing down on an opponent better, being one. Defensively, just needs to be more accountable. I could be knit picking a tad because he's still a yearling in the AFL - but I just want what is best for him.

Fwiw, Rogue has been looking forward to seeing Sam Blease ply his trade at AFL level. Yesterday's game would have put a smile-on-the-dial, no doubt.

Very true old dee, but it's great to see that Sam hasn't lost his pace and confidence to run and break lines, which were his hallmarks as a junior, and the reasons we drafted him.

Hey OMR, Im actually glad for you that Blease has made it.

I may have said somewhere(dont do it rogue) that I thought he would be less than spectacular and Big Red Fire Engine backed him in saying that he held really high expectations and IIRC, compared his speed and skill to a young Keith Grieg. Which I thought at the time was a huge call, but saw it myself watching him yesterday.

Long long way to go, but he sure doesnt play as wide as Keith (whom I didnt like as a youngster as he pushed Robbie out of a few teams of the year).

Would like to see him take a couple of hangers, Keith Grieg style.
