Can we do a 2005?

I remember distinctly that at the time we were only mathematical chances of making the finals and amazingly we pulled through and got there. Can we do it again, at even unlikelier odds??? I would love it!! But i guess not, too many players not playing hard enough and fixtures of other teams don't help us. I can only pray for the Swans to lose up in Brizzy and for us to win the next three by considerable margins. If only.

I agree, Maco!

I remember '87, too, when we'd won 6 and lost 10.

We won a couple, and our confidence soared. In the end we were a genuine premiership contender. The next year we beat the reigning premiers three times, including in the finals.

Richmond will be hard for us, but if we can go flat out, and get a few breaks, it could be the turning point!

Here's hoping!!

You just answered your own question.

All WE can do is our part, focus on finishing off the season with 3 wins, if the results fall our way then great, but if not then so be it.

Maybe you should have checked the fixture before starting up this thread.

The last round is Sydney v Brisbane in Sydney.

What sneak into the finals and get smashed by a better opponent? Why bother? That elimination final against the Cats was one of the worst games I've been to. When everyone was going ballistic after Whites goal against the Dogs my brother and I were just sitting there laughing at the Dogs supporters who thought it was in the bag moments before but knowing that we were not a chance for the flag and had blown yet another opportunity. Those years (2004-06) were a wasted period throwing away top 4 chances in each year.

I don't think so. We are no certainty to win all 3 matches. The confidence of Melbourne supporters leading into this match is troubling.

I agree. Richmond will win this weekend, you can just about bank on it, given current form. Speaking of current form, we are no certainty to win any of the 3 - how does that strike you ?!

Please High Tower, don't say such horrible things. The thought of losing to GCFC and PAFC is more than I could bear.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
