I ventured down got to the casey v geelong game at 3/4 time and saw the score and said to my parents I hope this isnt an omen. How right I would be.

Now I knew we wouldnt win but I was hoping to be in the game at 1/4 time. I thought I cant watch this for another 3 quarters. I was in the standing room section where years ago I would be surrounded by other dees fans but no it was like I was in the geelong cheer squad. I was surrounded by them.

By the end they were feeling sorry for us and the 4 drunk guys behind me were saying how good supporters we were for sticking to it at the end. All I oculd do in the end was just laugh because I seriously thought we were going to lose by 200 points. Then when the lights went out in the final minutes it was like a night match.

At least we stopped them from getting the highest all time record and I finished off the night with a beautiful mexican dinner. But geez I hope we dont play there next season. Also whats with everyone rocking up to the game in tracksuit pants. Is that the attire for cats games.

I was there until the end too. Head in hands for most of it. Then I missed the train by thirty seconds. Then I had to go to a movie and pretend I was interested. Then some cow behind me wouldn't stop talking for 90 minutes. Then I got into an argument with said cow.

Quite a day.

I stayed, like most of the Squadies, but we struggled to stay positive. Such a dark, dark day. I put my glasses on, I put my glasses off. I couldn't see a thing it was so dark....and then in the final minutes the pathetic little lights, if that's what they're called, went out completely. It's a good thing I couldn't see.

While we were cleaning up and packing up no one bothered us. Usually a losing effort comes with taunts and derision. The oppo walking past us were pitying us for our team's efforts, genuinely trying to offer solace.

Thanks, nice try, but it didn't work.

I went, i go every year as my partner is a geelong supporter.

I normally sit through all the horrible losses right till the end, have done so many times over the last 3 years but i just couldn't do it today. it was just too hard. We left at 3/4 time and listened to it on the radio for the drive home.

still feel gutted

For the first (and hopefully only) time in 30 years of going to the footy, we left at 3/4 time today. It was a horrible feeling picking up your bag to go and not hearing any team song over the PA.

On a related note, what is it with Geelong crowds that they are so darned quiet during the game, you can almost hear a pin drop when they are not cheering a goal, its one of the weirdest things Ive ever encountered, and it happens every year...

Yeah I was there till the end.

After the Casey game I said well at least we won't concede 30 goals in the main game!

I previously thought the first quarter of the West Coast game this year was close to the worst football I've seen Melbourne play.

Well today we served up four quarters of that.

After being crook all week I ventured down, coughing and spluttering all the way on the train to glares from other passengers. Grabbed a bite to eat and settled in to watch the last qtr or the VFL. I don't have much of a connection to Casey because for me they're basically the Springvale with some of our players in their team, thy're not "my team" so to speak. (The VFA/ VFL has been ruined but that's for anothr time.)

Found a seat in GA, which was nice, was expecting to stand; above the cheersquad and settled in. Could see it would be bad after the first few minutes, but not as bad as it became. I don't wish to analyse the game on here, just pass some comments on the day.

Felt sick when the cheer squad was going nuts at the end of the 2nd qtr. What was all that about, I'm not one who boos the team off, but carrying on like we'd kicked the match winning goal in a gf is a poor look when we're down by 120 pts. (If I have misinterpreted this can someone let me know.)Oh and on the cheersquad, is one side of the banner always given over to advertising? Looks crap and sends a poor message, meanwhile, I like that we still use a fully paper banner.

Stayed to the end, left my seat though as had to dash off to the gents, near the end, watched the ast few mins from the stairwell.

Oh and they need some decent lights there or change to a yellow ball when it gets that dark. Didn't watch them come off, made a beeline for the train. Saw Green on the 5th Qtr, had some weird half smile/ smirk on his face. Very strange.

Went.

Stayed to the end.

We tanked for that rubbish.

The team should have to earn the right to wear the red and blue, not today they didnt.

Cant say anything about the team as we didnt have one.

On a lighter note the Dees little league won 9.3 to zip, they should have stayed on they scored more.

Please oh please no light bodies or wait till next year when they have more games in them, If that is the basis of our future team god help us

INSIPED!

Having a smoke at half time me and a couple of Melbourne supporters i met where just sitting their in shock when an old lady came up to us and offered an apology to us. I didn't know if i should have laughed or cried.

My sister and I ventured down and stayed 'til the very end. Embarrassing, embarrassing day. I cannot remember being more embarrassed watching a Melbourne game before.

Agree. Stayed until the end. When Watts was pinged for deliberate in he last I went mad and said that the umps had killed us all day! Got good laughs. Pie was good. The team, just embarrassing. I have never felt more ashamed.

Guest Gotzy15

Just got back from Geelong this afternoon. Ventured down with my brother and best mate. Got there at 1030 and sat through both the Casey game and the main game until the final siren.

I dont think ive ever been so embarassed in my life and it was absolutely excruciating to watch! Cant believe that we just let them do that to us without even giving a whimper. Im absolutely gutted by the whole debacle. To make matters worst we went over to the race at the end of the game (not to abuse the boys) but just let the players know we were very dissapointed with their efforts (we just yelled things like "wheres the spirit boys" and "give us something boys") and some Geelong fan had a go at us saying we werent true supporters and that we should be ashamed of ourselves for not supporting our team! LOL i couldnt believe it

Went today with my father. Wanted to leave @ half time, but couldnt as would have had to wait til after the game for a lift home by girlfriend & had left wallet in girlfriends car (would have rathered gone to the pub!).

On a small issue, did anyone else who went down have an issue getting in with 17 game membership? Had to buy a general admin ticket as was told by ticketmaster that our barcodes didnt work down there, so - paid for the game in my membership, had to pay again to get in , then had to watch that crap!

Made the trip down yesterday and stayed until the very end. Arrived just before 1/4 time of the Casey match. Bought my ticket through the club and was in the 2nd Bay of the Wade Stand. The seats reminded me of the days out at Waverly on the wooden bench seats.

Tough staying to the end. Waited to see the players walk off.

17 game memberships does not include Geelong games. Hasn't for the last couple of years.

Same here. Very hard on those seats. I had a cushion but that didn't help the back at all. Arrived half time of Casey game and and hoped it wasn't a sign of what was ahead.WRONG. Stayed until the end and then a mad dash to get the train home. Train forgot to stop at Werribee and had to reverse to let passengers out.

Very down in the dumps today.

Bailey's sacking does not help.

Thanks for the info. Maybe they should make that a bit more clear. On the membership it states " 6 Vic games", last time i looked - Geelong is in victoria...

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
