and in breaking news today .......

Victoria police say a fire at a tobacco shop is possibly linked to other recent arson attacks, as the government announces a crackdown on illegal tobacco imports.

great to see the boys in blue are on the ball

Once saw on the news the story of the discovery of a dismembered body dumped in a wheelie bin on the nature strip in front of someone’s house. The story ended with the reporter saying, “Police are treating the death as suspicious.”

It seems that, once again, truth wins the day. There actually is a UBO dc.

UNIVERSITÉ DE BRETAGNE OCCIDENTALE

Based in the Breton port city of Brest, UBO in June 2023 declared an ambition to be known as the "Oceanic university of France". While this aspiration led to some concern that other disciplines might be downgraded, it suits the university’s location and existing profile.

Founded in 1971, UBO has a roll of around 22,000 students, about two-thirds of them undergraduates, both in Brest and at its base in Quimper.

The 14,500 undergraduates divide between the faculties of letters and human science, sports and exercise science, science and technology, medicine and health, dentistry and law, economics and management.

and i thought it was the university of bitterness and optimism 🤣

Back when I was a detective in the police, I was the only cop that actually wanted to do press conferences, but I was never allowed. To this day, still no idea why.

"Optimism" faded from the letterheads some years ago dc.

Perhaps your scatalogical references and history was a factor Ethan?

Perhaps bitters, perhaps. I went to this job once where the bloke had been dead in a spa-bath for three weeks. The jets in the bath were still going when we walked in. The boss wasn’t too happy when I titled the job “human soup” within the report. I haven’t been able to eat a lamb shank since.

Did you remove the bouquet garni and add a good pinch of salt?

Probably worst ways to go than in a spa bath I suppose.

The grunting by the women tennis players, is not only disgusting and off putting, but imo bordering on cheating.

Personally, I can't think of many worse ways to go or be found

Maybe @Ethan Tremblay can enlighten us?

Don't be so sexist....it's bloody annoying from whoever does it.

It puts me right off some players.

Not being sexist at all and in fact it was my wife who is more annoyed than me.

More of the women grunt than the men and they sort of squeal and scream.

It wasn’t around years ago and is a modern phenomenon.

Sorry Mr and Mrs Leg. I wasn't really serious about the misogyny accusation. It was really more of a segue into how annoying I find it too.

I wonder if it actually uses more energy grunting and screaming like some of them do.

A few of the blokes are pretty noisy as well.

Your right it wasn't around in the fine days of Kooyong and it's a blight on the modern day if you ask me. I mean if you just had a twenty shot rally, then yea a grunt after reaching for that forehand down for the line for the point, then maybe.

But a noise after every single shot is just silly.

I thought you might like my observations of a game, in which the score starts with love and can lead to one side having an advantage.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
