Bulldogs paying out $6mill to survivor of sexual abuse as a child whilst under duty of care of Footscray. Biggest payout of that type in Australia.

Does that come from the Club or through insurance?

Yeah I read that earlier Stiffy.

It's a lot of coin if not covered by insurance. Not many clubs could stand that whack!

Bulldogs saying they will have to take out a loan to cover the payout, should their appeal fail

And presumably this time get a church lawyer.

$6m/case... Ridsdale alone would be more than a quarter of a billion dollars. And at this stage there's no evidence that the Dog's hierarchy knew.

Or ought to have known?

it certainly stretches the limits of one's imagination to believe the club didn't know even after the perp was convicted in court years ago  ... really, gordon? ... and you a lawyer!

Historic events. Historic allegations. Historic charges.

Jeez it's such a nebulous area.  I refuse to speculate.

I can barely remember the sins I committed last week much less 40 or 50 years ago.

That’s why the legal phrase “ justice delayed is justice denied “ was coined.

The older an event is, generally the harder it is to get accurate evidence.

Don't get why we decided to bat first after the Afghanistan game.

Also why bowl Marsh and Stoinis before Head?

Either way, it's another average bowling effort by a few in this one.

Going to be a tough finals series with one real strike bowler in Zampa.

Ugh this is just around the corner from mine. Never in my entire life have I hoped for anything more than I’m right now hoping there’s more than one BBO in the world.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
