Time for the Theme song! Sing it proudly!

Have to say I’m over bananas

The topic of waxing ( raised above) offers a number of possible avenues to explore

Perhaps some of the learned souls that inhabit this place could profer some speculation

Been watching a fair amount of footy shows lately and they have been highlighting training.

Could someone tell why the [censored] blokes are running around in tights.

Now don't get me wrong, I love tights. I've been perving on sheilas wearing tights since they became a fashion item. The trouble is sheilas have become cunning and wear long jumpers that they pull down over the best bits. Very unsporting!

Let's strip the sheilas of the long jumpers and give them to the blokes.

Simples.

I sincerely hope you don't get around in tights, Uncle Bitter. In that unfortunate event, it would most definitely be used as an adjective rather than a noun

Well Moonie, if you must know ( but not understand), there are private moments when the wearing of tights is suitable to the occasion.

This thread even got a mention on the Demonland podcast last night --- we have certainly hit the big time now! (after only 976 pages)

I try so hard.

This thread is proof that Demonland is a lunatic asylum. I hope Dutton becomes prime minister and sends you all to Nauru...I hear you won't be short of bananas and coconuts..

(Much to my detriment) I rarely visit this thread, but I've called in today in an attempt to restore some sanity to my life and well-being.  You see, I live in Canberra, and I don't think I need to say any more than that.  Sincere apologies if I have derailed the thread.

Well, not a complete derailing. Dutton is a banana-bender after all. And much like this thread there is a vagues suspicion as to a question on his validity.

One thing we do know, this thread will outlast whoever wins the grease wrestle on friday!

Heh, it just occured to me, one of the joke measures of 'how long since the Demons made the finals?' is that there have been five changes of prime minister. Well, a tick over two weeks to go, we look likely to hit 6 and there's a real prospect of making it 7.

And this thread is the sanctuary from that DL lunatic asylum.

It is like an oasis in the desert.

Oh this thread is an asylum alright -- it is just that we are mad about bananas but don't get mad at each other.

Good point R&B. The fighting on other threads and nastiness towards other posters,  is something we avoid on this far more adult and intellectual thread.

Guess come election time Bill Shorten will be the next Prime Minister via the Bradbury Effect...

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
