In your dressed down camouflage and assuming you will travel to Spencer Street; then pop across road and catch the Port Melbourne tram. There is a stop assigned for the oval. Should not trouble one such as yourself too much !!

Thank you bb! It is reassuring to know there are still gentlemen in this world who can give a lucid and polite reply to a genuine request.

Unlike others.

Yeah, cant help but miss old Jizza. Poor bastard, it can be a harsh world we live in.

I hate to get maudlin but having read the Sin and the Rage over breakfast, I can only feel more depressed at the state of the world we live in.

[Channelling my inner jazza]: Come off it you old grump! Go play with your pretend cows or something! Us real workers have had lunch before you are awake! I don't have time to read the papers, but if I did and they depressed me, I wouldn't read 'em! Man up, mate!:lol:

Whatever tickles your pickle bjd. Sounds like you're already there!

Well it is mission accomplished as far as I am concerned

Two months ago I conceived a cunning plan to derail the Hawk's 4peat campaign, they were on a 7 game winning streak, had beaten the Swans in Sydney, demolished the Tigers and had moved 2 games clear on top of the ladder and they were giving me the shytes no end. And as the wife and in-laws are all mad hawks supporters there was a high level of tension in the household every Dawks game night as I have a developed a pathological hatred for them over the years for obvious reasons.

My plan was simply to place a large bet on them to win the flag. I haven't placed a bet on anything for 20 years because I have never won so much as a football club raffle in years of buying raffle tickets for local causes and as for horses or tattslotto forget it. In short I had put the "Curse of The Hood" on the team.

Once the bet was laid at 4.5 to 1 in my new Sportsbet account, I found I was totally calm on game night and was quite happy for the Dawks to smash their opponents. It was quite therapeutic actually.  And I really did think the Dawks were a real chance to win the flag as their main competitors were looking to be in average form.  And the winnings would go toward my next project to buy a C3 corvette stingray that my wife believes is utter folly. She keeps saying it is impractical to buy a 40 year old, gas guzzling, 2 seater with barely enough luggage space to store a tennis racquet. I mean really what would she know!

A few weeks later I watch the Dees beat them for the first time in 10 years, Stratton goes down, then the Weagles stitch them up and Ceglar goes down and all of a sudden the team looks old and slow but still has some fight left. And they certainly looked slow on Friday night as the Bulldogs ran all over them. Mitchell, Hodge and Gibson all seemed to be losing form over the last few weeks and they looked very human and battle scarred.

Poor Clarko must have been scratching his head and the sports journo's as to what went wrong but now you all know the real reason.

Looks like I will have to save a bit longer for the Corvette

But please remember to gamble responsibly!

Well done Earl !!!! You've taken a hit to the wallet in a bid to topple the Evil Empire !!! And it's paid off.  I went to the game on Friday and was vociferous in my support for the doggies. I joined in in a tender moment by the crowd as we booed the Hawks from the field at half time. Right in front of the Hawthorn cheer squad which wasn't so much cheering the Hawks as sitting there mute. I called one of the maggots a criminal when he ignored a blatant free which should have gone Footscrays way and suggested at one point that they give Hodge a whistle. The Hawks fans around me didn't like my comment that Hill will enjoy Perth after his stuff up gifted the doggies a goal. I discovered today that my Hawthorn supporting doctor had been sitting behind me listening to my running commentary and he seemed a bit cool when taking my blood pressure. He will get over it eventually. I will probably get over the smugness and the arrogance of the average Hawks fan during these last several years but it might take somewhat longer. Right now I'm enjoying the derailment of the Hawthorn juggernaut like all right thinking footy fans will be. Let's hope the report of the death of the Hawthorn Football club has not been exaggerated.

So when the Dees are struggling next year, Earl, can we pass around the hat so that you can put a few dollars on the Dees not making a preliminary final?

Jolly decent of you to take one for the team Earl - particularly since have suffered some other financial setbacks of late.

However a word of caution. It does not do for we of the well to do class to show signs of generosity. It leads to no good.

It can set an unwanted tone and before you know it exploited workers are seeking a pay rise. Next thing those numeric visa types will want to move out of the back shed and demand fresh water.

We don't want to sow the seeds of revolution do we?

On a personal note, perhaps the good "Lady Hood" would be more amenable to the corvette if she wasn't concerned that you may use it to parade the hirstute Conchita?

Oh well toodle pip. I think shall give some of the staff a jolly good flogging.

Well if events become too stressful dc, I'm sure you'll find a bluerinser or two for some diversion therapy.

A round with The Fence in a white HT Holden. The tastes suggest that the girls were all class. Even if you take the Holden or the Fence out of the picture.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
