You better get Earl's expert comments on that one.

Yes Emerald I have seen people playing footy in Ugg boots. I don't recommend it myself.

I played a few invitation games for the Fitzroy Hipsters some years ago and had this fullback, from the Carlton Barrista's line up on me wearing Ugg boots, not a good look and not very practical, especially after I did the old foot stomp as we lined up. Got my usual bag as I remember it.

No need to mention a business transaction over the internet Earl.

We will discuss it later.

I'll there were quite a few free kicks paid for pushes in the bun.

They also pay frees for man bagging in that comp.

I hear they have vege burgers and cider after the game because beer and a pie is too mainstream.

bun-high tackles, bitters. hope earl didn't play in the skin tight jeans rolled half way up the calves, not good for groin strains.

"holding the manhood" has a lot to commend it.

We must defer to your experience on this issue.

I think it is time for moderation Biffen. Doctor Hopping Dick is, I believe, an authority on "holding" - I will defer to his decision.

I reckon the crowd will get halfway through yelling the word "Baaaaaallllll......"  and then go "no, wait, ummm "

May be a witness as I saw a crime today. I witnessed the stealing of an AFL game, by 3 morons in green. A definite theft.

Now now Biff let us be quite clear when I mention a bag I mean 5 goals or more. The NML that I played for has never had veggie burgers or cider after the game that I remember. More like a fine wine selection at the end of the day with a cheese platter but the double espressos at three quarter time always helped our last quarter efforts, a la West Coast circa 2006. And the rules are the same, there is no in the bun rule by the way.

The Northern Metrosexual League unforturtunately expanded in later years to bring in sides like the Flowerdale lumberjacks and the Whittlesea Bogans, that was too much for me, lining up on guys wearing gumboots and cotton fleece shirts was no challenge given my speed and agility in those days, to say nothing about my superior vocabulary and oratory skills in the sledging duals. There was simply no more challenges for me.

I was an early example of the entertaining "Gun for Hire" full forward hired to bring in a local crowd for a local club long before Fev started doing it.

Happy to to be a low profile trail blazer in this area, as Kevin Rudd might say.

One of those morons needs to use a tape measure too. A 15m tape measure. The moron has no idea how far 15m is.

Probably the same moron that does not know how to pay a mark too.

Now now Mr Leg if we had a modest first quarter we would have won the game.

Oh come on OD, we were robbed plain and simple and every Dees fan I have spoken to since sees it exactly the same way. Even my common sense son says it was a disgraceful effort by the umpires who robbed us of the game. There were so many poor decisions and 7 goals given to North, that our mistakes pale into comparison.

Marks not paid, 25 metre kicks judged not 15, deliberate out of bounds one way, ducking and diving frees to Thomas and Waite, 3 throwing the balls by North that ended in goals to them, a ruck infringement against Gawn, who was in front of Goldstein and pushed in the back by Goldstein, resulting in a diabolical free and goal, which the commentators said was just terrible, Thomas jumping into Stretch to stop that final mark, the scragging of our forwards, soft 50's resulting in goals, need I go on?

Fans never see the ones that go the other way.

Simple fact is we  lost because we kicked one goal less than North.

What's done is done. I entirely agree with all of Redleg's examples. And even if you reverse 25% of these points old dee, I'm almost certain the result would be different.

That said, the team made some poor choices during the game and poor execution which also contributed. Just one massive frustration.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
