Now that Ten has withdrawn from AFL (watch out for a bid for NFL given Lachlan Murdoch/James Packer proclivities), who would be in the Demonland television commentator dream team top 8?

My choice:

Top 4 game day commentators: Bruce McAvaney, Dennis Commetti, Gerard Wheatley Tim Lane

Top 4 special comments: Paul Roos, Robert Walls, Stan Alves, David Schwartz

Pet hates: Brian Taylor, Lee Matthews, Malcolm Blight, Steven Quartermaine, "Spud" Frawley , Chris Grant.

Worst: Quarterbrain, Hudson, Lane, Lynch, Blight, Lloyd

To say best by no means says I like em, it's just that I can tolerate em.

Top 4 game day commentators: Bruce McAvaney,

Oh God, please no... He's appalling.

Cometti and Bruce are terrible.. Get rid of them.. So boring to listen to

Bruce drags Commetti down with him. Dennis is hands down the best we've had, and likely the best we're gonna see for a long time. Grybas is sorely missed too.

Hudson and Commetti for mine. The old heads need to go. BT is probably going to be round for another few decades.

Gideon Haigh has an exceptional insight into the game and has authored several books on that subject. He still plays cricket and it's his passion! You should get yourself a thesaurus and have a read

Tony Shaw is far and away the worst AFL media personality. Has no general sports knowledge. His AFL knowledge is limited and provides absolutely no insight. Even with Collingwood he struggles, honestly.

My dream team:

Rex Hunt/Dennis Commetti as primary callers, with Anthony Hudson as backup

David King, Garry Lyon special comments

Richo on the boundary

And MMM +1 for Doc Larkins, an actual doctor doing the injury stuff is the best updater around.

Gideon Haigh is a dilletante and a [censored] who pretends to like sport but also thinks of himself as a some kind of highbrow commentator .Knows nothing about cricket or football and couldn't write his name on a sandwich . Probably should be commentating equestrian or something equally poncey .

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
