But everytime I try to get out...........they pull me back in again

What are we going to do next year without a Tom Scully thread?

What are we going to do next year without a Tom Scully thread?

If he leaves we will most definitely have a Scully thread. And it will probably cause the internet to melt.

Don't worry - there'll be "Jack Viney - worth a 1st round pick?"

What are we going to do next year without a Tom Scully thread?

Maybe Tom will sign a 1 year contract and we can have a another whole year stressing!!

Oh God, I don't think it would be tolerable.

Oh God, I don't think it would be tolerable.

That'd end the internet for me. I couldn't deal with it.

Are there actually any registered Demonland posters who havent added something to this thread?

I hadn't posted in this thread before now.

I`ve read plenty of it, won`t post on it! Until now !

Ron what do you expect a foundation member to say????

I spoke to Tom early this week and we had a good chat about his contract, what he thinks of the club, the coach etc etc he confirmed that he hasn't even had an offer from GWS and hasn't spoken to them. He is expecting an offer because of the rumours but know its just football as usual. Which goes against the rumour the information above.

He actually asked me if supporters were upset at him for waiting but thats what some footy people had told him. In his own words '18 months ago I was hoping to play an AFL game now there is a real possibility that I could have to make the biggest decision of my life' (don't try to read something into a ten word sentence out of an hour conversation) If an offer comes at the rumoured values his decision will change the course of his career whichever way it goes.

This story broke on the rumour file on Feb 1 2011, but there were whispers late last year about this offer from GWS.

Wolfmother.....weren't you the person who first raised this issue on Demonland last December, after a conversation with someone in the family?

My only connection to Tom's family and friends came from a brief meeting in late February. At that time they thought he'd stay. In fact the quote was 'what the $#&@ is going on here?' in relation to all the stories in the media. It was the first they'd heard of it.

What are we going to do next year without a Tom Scully thread?

Jack Trengove or Jack Watts thread. I think the later has already had a few big ones.

Although I think they will commit sooner and hopefully it wont happen.

Lynch is On The Couch instead of Roos. Mike already mentioned he will ask him about it!

can you keep us posted? i dont have fox sports :(

Lynch said that demon fans should be optimistic about Tom remaining at the dees

I'm sick of these scumbag player managers in the media *not* talking about their players.

A Lynch and co. are being paid to critically commentate on the football world, and refuse to discuss with any insight all of the players on their roster (making them rich).

More weasel words from Lynch. Pickering is the same.

just asked lynch should melbourne supporters be optimistic about scully playing at melbourne in 2012 lynch replied with

"you should be optimistic, yeah"

Well, Sheahan certainly came out of that looking pretty silly.

mike asked if dees supporters should be optimistic about tom staying lynch said yes

Lynch said that demon fans should be optimistic about Tom remaining at the dees

Interesting tactic.

Bid is with MFC. Time for GWS to make their next move.

Mike also asked Lynch if Melbourne had come to him with a contract offer lasting 4-5 years recently. Lynch said no and asked where he got that information that from, Mike didnt say and looked confused. I'm under the impression that he has no idea regarding Toms contract.

After hearing Lynchs comments and approach to that question indicates that he's more then likely going to stay.

Alastair Lynch just said that Melbourne supporters should be confident Scully will be at Melbourne in 2012. .

Does this mean i can crack that bottle of red soon??? B)

I hope the contract will be more than 12 months....i do not want to revisit this scenario again....

Mike Sheahan asked Alastair Lynch on "On the Couch" if Melbourne supporters should be optimistic about Tom Scully staying at the Demons and Lynch said yes, they "should be optimistic", which is promising.....???

I am actually happy he is with Lynch, seems to come across very well. I've said this before a family member was/is being looked after by Velocity and they are fantastic.

Sheahan did look silly after that. The reasons made perfect sense.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
