Tom Scully

At the end of the day, the club is bigger than any one player.

If we lose Scully (god i hope we don't), we'll get 2 first rounders in return, and we'll get excited about those 2 youngsters in years to come. Maybe even pass them on packaged with Morton to GWS for one of the best 4 17 yr olds in the country. Plus we've still got Trengove, Gysberts, Watts, Frawley, Grimes and plenty of other young guns as well.

And just to agree with Old - you cannot talk out of both sides of your mouth on this.

If you think Tom has already signed, completely contrary to what he has said (that he won't sign anything until after Rd 24), the you think he is a liar.

You can't hide behind the 'of course he would say that' defence.

I'm holier-than-thou on that issue.

Why?

Because he's a kid. And a Demons player.

And he didn't deserve the 'Traitor' headline at the Hun, and he deserves to be taken at his word.

As a hypothetical, if Scully were to go...

I think it'd be a certainty that we'd receive the same compensation as Geelong received for Ablett.

And if we didn't trade one of the compo picks to get one of the 17 year old draft picks (which I think we'd go out of our way to do), I think we'd elect to use them both in 2012.

But not to put words in RR's mouth. Is he not saying is all a matter of timing. His fear all along was the GWS offer was going to be just toooooooo good to refuse when it eventually came. (The stage we are at now)

So far the only people that are wrong ... are the jounos that have claimed he has signed. ie Swartz, Barrett etc

Its now clear who is beating the "jungle drums" & we are prepared to stand and fight. We are conceding nothing.

But the war is not over yet.

Rubbish. Have you put your house on it or anything? All you'd lose is a little face.

How good is your avatar photo?

Way off topic but this is a Scully thread so who cares.

McKenzie...

He's gonna be special. A Junior with some equivalent talent around him...

Clearly my view has changed since then. So?

You stated your belief that "Scully was gone" on 14 April about 6 weeks after he stated that he hasn't signed with GWS and won't sign a contract until the end of the season. What happened between 4 March and 14 April?

Whatever Rpfc. I think you should agree to keep that "I believe in Tom" signature for a year after he goes.

Thank you Hangon007. You're sort of on the right track (at least in your first sentence) with what I've been saying so I'll give you a high-five.

I was voicing what I thought would be the case at that time and events since have only crystallized that view.

Keep digging '55.

I'm asking you what happened between 4 March when Scully said he hasn't signed and 14 April when you said he has? It's a simple question.

I am tired of RR & rpfc's tennis match...these 2 passionate lads have been saying the same thing for the last 4-5 months....

WE KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

I want to know how the club will deal with this crap once the dust settles...If Tom does leave to GWS how will the MFC react...will it leave a bad hole in our armour?

Dean Bailey Cam Schwabb and i am pretty sure Chris Conolly have all stated at different times that they Believe TS will stay. (what else could they say) If Tom goes will the MFC be a weaker club psychologically, or will we use it as Ammunition to Harden up?

The last time we lost a player like this it was 1965 & we never recovered..I know the careers are at different points, but there are similarities here between Tom & RDB.

Thoughts People....

Nothing from memory. Just a hunch. Since then, events have confirmed my intuition. So?

Am I annoying?

I always saw my role in these Tom Scully threads as a fighter of the good fight, a man of honour in a den of thieves, a hero taking a journey, confronting dragons and discovering the treasure of my true self...er.

I am annoying...

RR suggested we were all enthralled by such an intellectual debate between you two.

I kinda thought it was like watching a tennis match between Arantxa Sánchez Vicario and Lindsay Davenport.

We will be stronger ... you can only ever ask your football club to do their 100% best. Its now clear as day ...they are prepared to do that. Big question is will all the supporters realise that.

Hope it doesn't become a blame game. Or if it does ... we blame the AFL ... they get the blame for everything anyway ... why AD is on the big money he can handle it. :)

If anyone is into Twitter then the bi-play between Robbo and Ox is enthralling. Robbo suggesting that Ox was played by Gubby Allen.

Robbo_heraldsun Mark Robinson @ @TheOx05 so he has signed already but they still make an offer. Just playing out the story? The hallmarks of the Truman show. All a stage?

TheOx05 David Schwarz by Robbo_heraldsun@ @Robbo_heraldsun great movie perfectly scripted and Ed Harris is Gubby Allen.

And I was agreeing with you in that last post.

Well, not about the women's tennis reference...

Gubby should be promoted to No.2 and have his very own Metricon Stadium.

Yes i hope you are right, this is completely unchartered waters here....other clubs can be smug as Sh!te, but they haven't been potentially raped of their number one draft pick, by an AFL Funded franchaise that as yet has not played a game.

Conversely if Tom stays....i can see great positive energy...."Players DO want to stay here".....

I admire your ability to last the distance, you have been over this like a lampshade.

I would (and) have lost interest in it long ago.

He stays or goes...meh

I would be meh too.

But I just cannot get past the two things I mentioned earlier.

That is why I am here, and will continue to be.

And you really don't have to admire it...

Just don't pity it...

And while we are talking about Women's tennis - who won Wimbledon? I have taken zero interest in it but usually catch wind of which woman won...

Not a clue.
