Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

we all want him to be dropped and banished to casey. But let's face it, when this guy was out for 10 weeks walking around the MCG in his suit with other injured players- he was getting harrassed by so many fans. He's safer on the field. There are so many things the club would have to consider if they came out and publicly stated tom was leaving. I think its a spot in the side that Blease or Cook or someone else deserves if they stay with us, but you've also got to look at it from the club's perspective in terms of PR. the issue has been a bad distraction, however because the situation is unique, they have to handle it well or it could get nasty. I think they now know, and they'll let the season run out.

I doubt they'll make it Public untoil either they have to, or tom confirms it himself publicly.

To our legal eagles, if it's not allowed under AFL rules where do we stand with a suit against the GWS?

I firmly believe he will sign with GWS.

Which makes him going on about having 'the trust of his teammates' completely bizarre (someone will run with this bone).

Like everyone else, just wish it was over.

Calm down, sculz isnt going anywhere.

Imgaine if Scully signs a 1 year deal and this whole circus is repeated next year?

From Jon Ralph's Twitter about an hour ago:

"Spoke to Scully today. No revelations but read the H Sun tomorrow. Says he couldn't be happier. Decision still end of year"

God I hate biting but if the word "decision" was used then that means he has been approached by GWS as he would need to have in order to make a decision.

If he hasn't been approached then theresno decision, it's a matter of negotiating another deal with the MFC.

I'm kicking myself for contributing now..

It's time to turn the heat up on Scully's management including Peter Blucher and the Fox commentator from today's game - Alistair Lynch.

Blucher regards himself as one of the pioneers of sports public relations in Australia having been the first club media manager during his time at Brisbane. But it seems that he's forgotten what he used to do for a living, because right now he is doing incredible harm to his client's reputation. It's a disgrace that halfway through the year, we as supporters don't know whether to love or loathe the man wearing our own number 31. I know that right now, I don't feel any warmth towards the kid. As a supporter and member, it's a terrible position to be in, so I can't imagine how his teammates would be feeling right now, particularly guys like Jack Trengove who was picked just behind Scully and has made it perfectly clear that he wants to be a 'one-club-player'.

And how can Lynch sit there as part of the commentary team today with all the question marks about Scully, when he would absolutely know what's going on. He's a Director and General Manager of Velocity Sports! Talk about a compromise. Turn the heat up on these bastards. They're more concerned about lining their pockets with the biggest commission cheque possible than showing any repsect to the club that drafted and has since developed their star client.

I think this is the hardest thing for us supporters, the emotional investment we make in our players doesn't come as naturally with Scully due to fear of abandonment.

I try really hard to love everything he does and be super impressed with him, but it's very very hard to watch him play well. I almost want him to struggle, to stuff up, in some sick twisted way it might make me feel less heartbroken if he leaves.

I completely understand that he wants to weigh up his options, get the best possible deal for himself, but there are many people who are impacted by his lack of decision making. It's definitely annoying to have a great win like today, and then turn on the radio and have every station talk about nothing but Scully's contract situation. That may not be his intention, or even his fault, but it is a direct result of what he is choosing to do, or not do, as the case may be.

It's been just 3 weeks since he's been back playing. Can the club really absorb this sort of scrutiny for another 12 weeks?

And by the way, I'm getting sick and tired of having to pander to this kid. If he had any respect for the place, he would see all of this as an unecessary distraction that the club could do without. He and his management would have absolutely known the sort of speculation and attention the decision to delay contract talks would generate.

The club is and always will be bigger than the individual, Tom. This is not how I would expect a future captain to behave.

Jon Ralph's article just published on the Hun website:

Tom Scully Plays It Cool On Where His Future Lies

So insightful

Good to see nothing fazes this kid. Too bad us supporters can't just sit back and relax at the possibility of our number one draft pick leaving the club. I guess we are a lot more emotionally connected to this issue than he is, which is hard to understand. Either he really doesn't give a crap about it all, or he is one awesome actor.

I think something will need to be said before seasons end, but that is just my view.

It may depend on the amount of wins we have.

But i am really impressed with the way the club has locked down...This whole scenario is like surfing a wild wave.. Just hang on and get through it.

So far the club is doing fine. The poor supporter is not so lucky.

I agree wholeheartedly. The club is bigger than the individual. Always has been and always will be.

I don't like what Tom is doing. The club should grow some cojones and put a stop to it.

i have number 31 on one of my jumpers. i'm as shattered as anyone. just saying, unfortunately he is all but gone. Dean should give tom an ultimatum to confirm or deny this week, with his spot in the side pending,

My point was more that i doubt they will play with him if he "has signed" the players that is.

I also doubt Stynes as you said would be spreading information to media personalities prior to the head coach etc.....

that is all

There is one thing that is very much being forgotten - what if we do make finals?

While not at all guaranteed, it isn't out of the question either. And I reckon it might actually be the maker for Melbourne - if Scull can see how this club has grown already with just a season and a half, surely he will look over at, say, Carlton, and realise where we are going and where he will be able to go should he elect to stay.

His management does not control him.

If Tom said to his manager, [censored] off with this crap I want to sign/ announce I'm leaving/ switch to NRL, they would have to live with his wishes. They work for him, not the other way around. He does what he wants, and at the end of the day, it is all his decision, his choice and his doing.

Absolutely...the ladder is still wide open. But FFS we must win away from the MCG!!!

Bring on next week.

Memo to Tom: Don't treat the people that back you and help pay your wage with contempt. The tone of your comments give a distinct hint of arrogance. You are a second year player - build up your credit points over a long period before taking this sort of approach. The whole thing lacks class.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
