Eddie McGuire has lost it re: Maric

We've got a bit of a victim mentality when incidents like this occur.

Time we throw a few barbs back. How about suggesting Mick's West Coast teams from the 90's benefited from being rather massive physically. Suggest that might've been some quality cordial they were drinking around that time.

We are as easily insulted as we are beaten.

Mick could easily have followed up his comments by saying he was using the incident as an example. But he didn't and he hasn't.

Good footballer, great coach and not a bad commentator. But he's never been good at apologising or accepting he might have made a mistake.

Eddie works in the media. By definition he's an entertainer and nothing he says should be taken seriously.

Guys, Eddie and Mick don't have some hidden agenda against Melbourne.

Mick was providing commentary, and based on his persona, I'm sure he says similar things to his own players.

Such a non-issue.

I was listening to it and Mick never did accuse Maric of cheating. He said players that claim that sort of stuff is but he didn't know at that point whether Maric was definately cheating and that it was players who carry on with it which MAric didn't. Although when he rambled on about the wicket keepers catching it he lost me as its near impossible to tell sometimes to tell yet he thinks the opposite.

Collingwood President Eddie McGuire Says Coach Mick Malthouse's Cheating Comments Didn't Single Out Melbourne Youngster Addam Maric

The guy actually reckons Mick Malthouse didn't single out Addam Maric on Friday night.

What planet is Eddie on?

I've heard of spin, but this would make a washing machine proud!

He must have caught another whiff of the washing powder again.

My only thought on this issue, is that if "cheating" in footy is such a bugbear for him, then perhaps he could lead the league on this issue. Give his players a firm directive that Collingw@@d players will no longer cheat like this. Fact of the matter is that in the heat of frenetic competition, even if directed not to, they still would try to unfairly gain a (legal) advantage by using the system because that is the natural reaction for nearly every competitive sportsman under pressure.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
