It is Mushroom season, let us not forget!

But i do hope you are right....I got laughed at in the pub last friday night for admitting i was a demon. Since i was at school in the 70's not much has really changed.

Beating Hired's Turds would be enormous.....

Worry not. They're called 'shrooms.

Since early in the season I have been of the opinion that the Bummers will slow down towards the half way mark as being a young team and pushing so hard will inevitably take its toll.

Except this week they have had a week off to recoup......

If Trengove, Scully, and Gawn are named I'm confident we'll win... That's also assuming we don't lose someone mid-week like Sylvia, Moloney, Frawley.

Don't forget the man with the moustaka may be making a return this week also. That alone should be enough to get us all along to the game with confidence.

Good that we have a chance of getting some of our players back on the park this week. I don't see any reason why Scully won't be played, from all reports he had solid hit-out on Saturday. Trengove will come back in, and I got a feeling Dunn will too.

With those ins, I'd say we'll see Bate be dropped, and I was thinking that either one of Bennell or Jetta but does anyone else think we desperatley need some pace around ground?

Though I'm still out on just how good Essendon are, I can't really see us beating them this week. Our injuries still hurt our structure, even more so with Essendon having Hille and Ryder. Stef has done well and I've been impressed but Hille and Ryder are no chumps.

My gut's been telling me all week we're gonna win.

I don't see how Gawn being in the team would help our chances though. You expect him to get 30 hit-outs, 20 touches, 10 marks and 5 goals in his debut game? He'll be lucky to get 5 touches and not give away too many free kicks.

Hahahah. God I wish he would shave that thing off..

I'm wondering how far Jamar is off returning....Missed North, St.Kilda, Carlton games...wasn't it initially "3-5 weeks."

Much will depend on the availability of Watson and the Bombers midfield. They're a better performed team at Etihad, as we are at the G. That said, even with the return of Dunn, Trengove we're still severely depleted now with question marks on the fitness of some players.

With our lack of performance in the forward line and a refreshed Fletcher, it will be an uphill battle from go to wo.

Pushing hard is something the Dees can not be accused of, so if they decide to go out with the intention of giving it their all for 4 quarters, there is no reason they couldn't run over the Bummers for a much needed (in so many ways) win.

Whilst I hope like hell all you folks are correct, I fail to see what will make the players "go out with the intention of giving it their all for 4 quarters", when they have failed to do so on one single occasion this year. Doesn't exactly instill any confidence.

Playing the Filth will. Pity we'll lose anyway.

I am putting it on the line and saying that I am absolutely certain we will bash the Bombres this week. Hard earned will be splashed on my blind faith!

I have watched Essendon this year with some interest, given their somewhat meteoric rise under pretty boy Hird.

I think that they have the nucleus of a good spine, but they are hardly there yet. Their start of the year was all emotion, and they have great leg speed, so that when they get their tails up, they can be hard to stop. However, they are actually ordinary and I predict that they will miss the 8.

The way they play I reckon suits us, because they will let also us play our way.

Not a chance. They play to our biggest weakness. They get their goals from a fleet of small fast forwards. We have never been able to cope with that. Our backline is set up to deal with tall KPPs, not a mosquito fleet. They will move it quickly through the middle and run rings around our lumbering giants in the back 50. This is going to hurt folks.

I can't see Melbourne kicking a winning score.

And I back up the thoughts of Demon4Life, re Gawn. Wasn't he playing Casey seconds a few weeks back?

Good luck against Bellchambers, Hille and Ryder. But then again, he is probably a better back up to Martin than Newton.

Perhaps the criticism dished out by Mitch Robinson might fire Melbourne up. You do play the MCG well, and if Hurley and in particular Watson are still missing, Melbourne aren't without a chance.

But I would think Essendon would be pretty upset if they don't take the four points.

Well I hope you have applied for a job on the psychic hotline, cos you predicted the win (although your margin was a bit on the cheap side wasn't it?)

Har de har har har (as I said to my Essendon work colleague when he said they would smash us tonight).

Now - I would REALLY like to beat the Pies next week, because their fans really annoy me (as does Mick Malthouse). ;)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
