Yes, he'll be stiff, but we absolutely can't play 3 ruckman. Hasn't worked for bombers, who have 3 quality ruckman, and won't work for us.

Jamar and Martin are number 1 and 2 at the moment.

I wouldn't be too worried though for Gawn... he'll continue to improve and develop at Casey, playing as the number 1 ruck for the rest of the year. He's 19 years old, and most ruckman don't peak until their mid 20s... he's off to a great start in his career, and we can now feel comfortable that he can come in and play a role whenever required.

If Jamar had not gone down injured and then Spencer the same weekend, Gawn would not have got a taste of AFL this year. He is an exciting prospect for the future. He was lucky to have at an experience at AFL in 2011 so he can further hone his game at Casey. He has been very fortunate and far from stiff.

Given we have Jamar, Gawn, Spencer, Martin and Campbell(rookie) on our list, I can see why anyone would want to be chasing Hille. Beggars belief.

assuming garland is out we could play all 3 if we moved Martin to defence to play on vickery who has started to hit his straps.

This would allow frawley to take jumping jack and river can play the third tall/cover roll that he does so well. Rivers may also struggle with vickerys height.

I think Martin has shown he has the form and flexibility to play anywhere.

I would prefer this than brining warnock back in if the club feels it will be exposed for height if garland misses.

Having said that you don't want to mess with stefs mojo and I could live with him keeping his current role and Jamar coming in and replacing gawn. As RR pointed out there is still much benifit to be had playing the number 1 ruck role for Casey.

Totally agree. Jamar forward is a bigger threat to them than Vickery (who is 200cm, by the way) is to us, but coaches will need to be ready to shift Martin back on to Vickery if he's getting the better of Riv or whoever. In fact, if Jamar is forward, the Toigs' best match-up for him is probably Vickery, and they may be forced to play him back on Jamar anyway. Which would be a big win for us.

Can't believe anyone would think playing Jamar as a forward is a good option. He's a terrible shot for goal. He should come back in, play in the ruck where he's a dominant player, and Martin should be the 2nd ruck/forward.

Gawn, unfortunately, should be relegated to the 2's in my opinion, because I can't see room for the 3 of them in the side. I think Gawn has been great and was extremely pleased to see Bailey start him in the ruck yesterday... but like Jamar I don't think he offers us a massive amount in the forward line (notwithstanding his nice goal and great tackle yesterday).

I wonder whether this was Bailey's plan coming in to yesterday - i.e. get Martin used to playing that 'second fiddle' role again in preparation for next week when the Russian returns. If so, well done Bails, great coaching!

Yeah, but whenever Jamar or even Martin for that matter is injured, ill or suspended the FD and coach can have the confidence to call him up anytime when required.

To get some games into Gawn at this stage of his development is excellent.

He'll probably be disappointed to go back to Casey but he wouldn't have expected to get a run in the AFL and - despite his promise - he still has plenty to work on.

That said, he's a super exciting prospect!
