That's how I feel too. I'm not going to make a big stink about it, but I feel that the club has let the player down by its initial meek defence.

Funny this happens in the year they sign a record deal, the powers that be in the afl are not about the sport its now all about that sweet sweet cash and making sponsors happy.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The only way to get a stupid rule changed is to challenge it, sometimes the best way to challenge it is to obey it. If all players stop tackling, the AFL might see how ridiculous and wrong this rule is and change it. If we all go along pretending like nothing has happened, then nothing will change.

While I hope noone is ever badly injuredf I hope a similar case occurs and a Collingwood player gets the same charge this week. Then the AFL may realise how stupid they are.

I would not be at all surprised if the AFL threatened the club with a withdrawal of any extra funding in the future if they took it any further. According to an official from another club, this has been done before. Of course denials all around.

can anyone tell me how the afl committee are appointed? is there anyway the clubs can pass a no-confidence vote and have them sacked? this decision sets a very dangerous precedent for the afl. if a player is dazed by a tackle after hitting his head on the ground, will this be considered high impact?
