Obviously the FD think he is .

Go Blease .... Have a great debut mate .

Absolutely! He's been in the system for a long time, and was cruelled by a nasty injury. Great to see him finally make his long awaited debut. I hope he has a great game. The first of many for the Mighty Dees!

I'm not worried at all - what's the worst that could happen?

He'll use his blistering pace to break lines.

I like the inclusion.

And don't expect to see him as the sub - I heard Scott West on the radio a few weeks ago talking about the substitue rule and 1st gamers, and apparently our club has decided to take the approach of never making a 1st gamer the sub.

The theory is that they would sit there on the pine, a bundle of nervous energy - better to get the nerves out of the way from the start, get a feel for it and then get into the game.

(that's not to say he won't be subbed off).

I'm pretty sure you are wrong here. Nicho started as sub in his first game

I think that must have been his second game.

Either way, I'm just repeating what Scott West said.

He'd know better than either of us.

gawn, nicholson, howe, tapscott and evans have all debuted this year and all of them have got off to a great start.. any chance of a little faith the FD know what they are doing?

They certainly have stopped Watts playing like a woman...

I would much much rather we continued with our AFL exposure and development of the younger players, than overly err on the side of caution.

I think Blease has done enough for a taste.

While not our scenario Fletchers' never-ending 22 spot at the EFC shows just how far you can take the 'the youngsters aren't ready' line and I don't like it at all.

We can all see that Blease will be very good but I honestly don't think he's ready for the big time just yet. I'm worried about this selection.

Exactly what would you be basing your concerns on BTdemon?

This kid was a jet in the under 18 championships in 2008

Get games into him like everyone else & he will be a damaging line breaking Brent Harvey type player in no time.

He is also best mates with Tom Scully & the two have been hanging out to get on the park together.

Sit back & enjoy yet another 2011 pleasant selection surprise.

From what I've seen and for some reason I seem to go to the games where he doesn't play well but he hasn't looked clean enough for AFL standard.

However, some players just shine in AFL without being great in the VFL because the speed suits them and this could well be Blease's case. I certainly hope it is!

I'll put my hand up here, I said I didn't think he would play a game for us but here we are. I am rapt to be proven wrong I'll be there tomorrow night to cheer him on. Go Sammy and Go the mighty Dees!!!!!

yeh does anyone have any stats on what our average age is and how it compares to other teams??

Lobster I dont have other teams however ours is 22 years 182 days.

Comparable to the Bulldogs, who are 24 years 313 days. They have 2 and a half years on our list.

Not getting forward, I do think we're a chance tomorrow but this does make aware the issues Western Bulldogs will have in the future. 2 and a half years they have and we're still in better form and a better team. Scary!

Looking forward to seeing Blease's debut

Let's hope he's one of that type who really blossom with top players around him

He's probably a bit lucky getting this start now rather than in a few weeks but I hope he really grabs his chance and nails it

Now lets hope Cooky gets a chance before the end of the year

Maybe we can have a finals year AND a development year?

just re-reading, I seem to use the word hope a lot. Ah well guess that's footy

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag
