Campbell Brown goes cabaret

Those of us who grew up watching footy in the 60's and 70's will remember West Australian Mal Brown seeking to make an impact in the VFL by going the biffo. It is amazing to see his Victorian son, Campbell Brown now doing the same thing as a 'queenslander' by indulging in similar tactics. At least he has his luxury apartment.

Posted

He has always done it, with or without his luxury gold coast apartment. He seems to think it is his job to make a stand - when its just stupidity which is now going to put his team back further than they already are. And it couldn't have come at a better time.

They have very few mature bodies like his, now another debutant to line up against us next week. Will make life just that little bit easier for our forwards.

Nothing tough at all about that kind of act. Pure thuggery and a stain on the person's character.

It's a shame because it's not like he can't play hard, aggressive and fair football.

Wants to be remembered like a Mark Harvey or a Glen Archer does Campbell Brown. But won't be.

There is a difference between tough and stupidity

After 10 years if the lessons aren't learned its called stupidity

He is on a guaranteed contract regardless of games played which is dangerous to the mind of one C Brown

Love him but yday wasnt good engh

Spot on. Has aggression instead of guts, and that's what will keep him from being remembered in a positive light, if at all.

Funnily, first thing I thought when he plonked Ward off the ball was that Brown is just as much a publicity stunt signing as "Harmichael", brought in to get some headlines and get some "tough guy" footage on the Gold Coast news.

Watching the game, I don't think I've ever been as keen to see Barry Hall get back to his old punching form as I was after he'd been head shunted by Campbell... Shame.

I thought this thread was about him doing cabaret.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Campbell involved in a bit of drag burlesque...

This is going to be interesting. On what I saw Brown's gone for 2 or 3 weeks at least but does the AFL want the new franchise to lose a key player at a point in time when it's fast losing credibility in the eyes of the fans?

Surely, there are technicalities for the MRP to consider ...

Just an article released in the HS saying how Brown thought it was unnecessary to apologise because he's done nothing wrong. The man is an out and out arrogant [censored].

Good, The [censored] will not be playing next week.

He is an over rated [censored]...What a waste of a senior recruit for the Fold Coast.

Campbell Brown a leader.....NOT.

The apple never falls far from the tree does it ...

He was on the radio a while ago and said it's just the way he plays the game. Problem is throwing an elbow at a guy's head while he's not looking and after play has stopped has nothing to do with "playing the game." It's a simple act of cowardice. He will long be remembered as a sniping little thug and a mediocre footballer.

I love him. He plays the game like an animal. Sometimes he overdoes it, like yesterday, but he also shirtfronted Barry Hall, too, and no sane person does that. I'd love him in our side. Melbourne needs an animal or two who just compete fanatically.

I love strong courageous players. Campbell Brown is neither.

He is a dirty sniper who regularly acts like a dog on the footy field out of sheer frustration.

He is an ordinary player and an ordinary person who clearly goes in "hard" but doesn't have the balls to admit when he's crossed the line.

Give me strong courageous players like Selwood any day of the week over cheap-shot wankers like Brown.

Hope he cops plenty of weeks for what he did.

Agree.

The thing that I will remember Brown for is mouthing off after the Essendon game about getting even with Lloyd if he sees him again, but he had half a game to do it and did nothing. Big mouth sniper who is trying to convince himself that he is a tough bloke.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
