Does anyone else wish he'd tone it down sometimes? His partiality towards the Demons is so blatantly obvious that at times it's a little embarassing. He was extremely vocal during that second quarter and kept harping on about our dominance, but was noticeably quiet while we were getting mauled in the second half. Another example was when he talked up Green's mark inside 50 - a chest mark with not a defender in sight.

It's nowhere near the open barracking of Robert Walls for Carlton, and he does provide some good insights on individual players that we wouldn't usually get, but as somewhat a representative of the club I wish he'd keep a lid on it when things start to turn our way in a match, cause they can very easily blow up in our face like they did today.

Are you joking? I thought he was pretty measured in his praise and criticism. Talked it up as a really important game and rightly criticised our leaders (Davey in particular) when we went to sleep.

I think those first 2 comments are both correct... but only because Healy always kicks with the wind. If we are up he gets on board and celebrates our youth and potential... but when we are down he rubs our faces in it.

I'm with Sylvia Saint on this one. Was at the game so didn't hear today's commentary, but if anything, he is usually anti-Melbourne in his calling.

Posted

Just like 99% of other commentators is positive when we are up and about, and negative when we are getting spanked. A lot of Melbourne supporters seem to have this theory that numerous media types are out to get us, which most of the time is completely ridiculous.

I really couldn't disagree more. Loves sinking the boots into the Dees...

x2, didn't notice so much this week but to me he usually sounds as if he really dislikes the dees

I always thought Healy hated the Dees. I guess his commentary performance today was a chance of pace.

I didn't listen to the commentary, but it's interesting to note - as others have - that Healy has been criticised for his anti-MFC stance in past years.

Now, when we've played some good footy (albeit for a quarter) he's been marked out as a pro-MFC supporter.

This leads me to believe that perhaps he just calls it as he sees it, and forest85 might be on to something.

Agree with these comments. I watched the replay on my return (as hard as it was) and he was complimentary in the second quarter. Probably because we were playing well ! Calls it as he sees it.

I was listening to Triple M...I would like to know what Eddie Mcguire job description is there. Surerly they've only employed him as a commentator...he was commenting on melbs style of play like he was an expert. it sounded terrible on many levels coming from him.

last time i checked he'd never played AFL. Dunstall and Nathan Brown were employeed to give special comments on the game for Triple M...

Eddie you need to shut-up and just call the football. Rather than provide your expert opinion on why melbourne lost the game. Nobody wants to hear your opinion!

Might want to give the phrase "at the present time" a bit of a rest, though. You could start a drinking game counting that catchphrase.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
