ST. KILDA IN STRIFE

Grandson of a gun

Recommended Posts

This is from The Age:

She admitted her actions were based on revenge, and said she had photographs of other AFL players. ''There are players from other clubs: West Coast, Sydney, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn and few of Melbourne. They are of a similar nature to the first one that came out,'' she said.

I honestly don't know what to say other than that I hope no more player reputations are senselessly damaged by this.

how do we know?

..... the general public, have no idea.

Agree. So why make the connection with Lovett??

im more making the point that the saints treated lovett badly...although it probably cost them a flag in the end...

They didn't and he didn't.

His actions were deplorable and the fallout made his position completely untenable. Lovett is no saint...on a number of fronts.

Completely, 100% different situation.

Agree.

This is another media storm in a teacup giving airtime to people who least earn it.

This scares me

From the age article

"She admitted her actions were based on revenge, and said she had photographs of other AFL players. ''There are players from other clubs: West Coast, Sydney, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn and few of Melbourne. They are of a similar nature to the first one that came out,'' she said."

I was hoping the demons were going to dodge this bullet

Take a deep breath and relax. It's only a matter of time before we have a player or two getting caught being a dumb-dumb; such is the nature of having so many meathead footballers in the public spotlight. If a few nudie photos are the worst we get stung with in the next few years, then I say we've gotten off lightly. These photos aren't scandalous and these boys have not done anything wrong (in the evidence presented), either morally or legally in my view. This is just very embarrassing for those involved.

I wouldn't mind bumping that "our players are model citizens" thread from a few months ago though.

it was asking you to elaborate to the point of explaining how it was apparent that they had been taken by a female as opposed to a male.

The Saints players are posing for the shots in all their homoerotic glory and stark nekkid. The girl that released them didn't take them, and I'd guess the one with 2 of the players in it was taken by another player. So then you gotta wonder how it got out.

Girl says she took them herself...

I assume you're comparing this with the Fevola/Bingle thing?

Big difference.

Bingle didn't want the photo taken, let alone released to the public. You can see in that picture she is taken by surprise and trying to cover up. Fevola took the photo, Fevola spread it.

How, bet they didn't want the photos coming out regardless of whether they posed for them or not...

The girl took the photos. The girl distributed them...

It looks like she is one vindictive piece of work though. Wonder which player it was that obviously broke her heart to the point where she now has to rein down all sorts of carnage on the Saints????

Come on, these guys invited this upon themselves - 100%. Any adult capable of reasonable/rational thought knows that if you allow nude photos of yourself to be taken that there's a very high probability of them coming out, regardless of how much you trust the photographer. Especially when you're a public figure.

My executive summary of the situation:

Girl: spiteful, nasty piece of work with clear issues.

Footballers: Complete idiots for putting themselves in such a stupid, compromising position.

Everyone loses. Well done, everyone.

Riewoldt has stated that the photo's were taken in Miami over 12 months ago, by a teammate (Sam). He asked then and there that it be deleted. Were taken after getting out of bed.... - press conference (now)

Yeah nah, she didn't take the photos.

And if she did, which she didn't, the players would be penis-in-hand posing for a 16 year old girl to take photos. Your argument still wouldn't look any better.

I've seen much worse photos of AFL footballers & normal people alike.

The key is to not let it get released into a public forum.

I think the girl probably has grounds to feel some angst towards these players, but I think she lacks a bit of insight into what it will achieve for her personally.

Distributed them yes, but took them?... well it would seem the jury is out on that one. The St Kilda CEO seems to think that is not the case:

"St Kilda CEO Michael Nettlefold told 3AW he believed at least one of the photos had been taken by a teammate on a football trip up to 14 months ago.

It looks like she is one vindictive piece of work though. Wonder which player it was that obviously broke her heart to the point where she now has to rein down all sorts of carnage on the Saints????

There is absolutely no argument there re vindictive, but if you read the article in the Age I pointed to, you will find the answer to your question.

I think there may be a few nervous CEOs (ours included) about at the moment as she also makes the following claim:

"She admitted her actions were based on revenge, and said she had photographs of other AFL players. ''There are players from other clubs: West Coast, Sydney, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn and few of Melbourne. They are of a similar nature to the first one that came out."

Poor old Nicky Dal's going to be in for some serious on-field sledging next year.

from an article on computer.....

"""" ...........Duthie also told Australian radio networks that she has up to 21 photos of other Aussie Rules players.

'There are players from other clubs: West Coast, Sydney, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn and few of Melbourne]. They are of a similar nature to the first one that came out,'' Kim Duthie said in a telephone interview.

''I will not stop until I am satisfied; it's basically just about getting revenge.''............""""

From the press conference, Reiwoldt claims they were taken by Gilbert. One can only assume they were donwloaded onto Gilberts computer and this girl has found them on there (is he the ex-boyfriend)?

Hardtack and DA, i will get on the front foot and take Reiwoldt at his word, that the photos weren't taken by her, but by Gilbert. I withdraw any argument in relation to that.

Did Gilbert know this girl had obtained the photo's from the computer? I won't be so quick to shoot off but either he did and i'm sure he asked her to get rid of them or he didn't know in which case she stole them with the intent of using them down the track.

It doesn't change the circumstances of their release or the actions of this girl...

There's no winners in this. It's spread like wildfire, much like the Fev/Bingle incident.

Should there be hefty penalties for this sort of thing ?

Civilly she could be in a bit of strife. Criminally there is nothing

Without any moralising, this is just a sign of the times we live in, both with respect to attitudes and availability of technology

Jerry Springer et al have a lot to answer for

Expect to see a lot more of this sort of stuff in future, and yes at some stage it will visit itself upon the MFC

As an aside, check her twitter its_k_isabella and look at the list of followers. Some interesting personalities (yes, our Shane is there).

You can tell by her tweets and responses to followers questions that she intends to milk this 15 minutes for all it's worth.

Worse is that she seems to have supporters who are egging her on.

A seriously troubled young girl.

She used to go out with Sam Gilbert and was alleged to have got pregnant by him. According to Roo, the photos were apparently on SG's computer.

A bit more worrying is Nicky Dal playing with his wang?!!!

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
