Nor can I but I can't agree that we have an abundance of HBF. In fact at draft time I was hoping we'd pick one up so we could release Grimes to midfield duties.

We are fortunate that Frawley and Garland can play small but the majority that you list are totally unproven.

Having said that, Watts on a HBF is a strange suggestion to me. I can deal with a high half forward and maybe a few short stints in the midfield but I can't see the benefit of HBF. He's a forward, the teams need him to play there and he needs the practice.

As opposed to Watts, who is largely unproven, but also a forward..?

Think you had a "reading the whole post" failure there E.

I did reply before reading the entire post, but then afterwards I read the rest and thought the comment should still stand.

Sometimes he just looks terrified to have a shot on goal, but we'll see less and less of that as he gains experience. Purely a confidence thing. And no, I'm not questioning his decision making or anything, I have a brand new jumper with #4 on the back and I have as much faith in the kid as anyone. He'll be a gun.

Terrified to have a shot? Never.

He doesn't lack any confidence in goal-kicking. Not sure where you gleaned this from.

Probably just looking for a better option, which he often does and rightly so.

If you were responding to me I don't understand.

You said we had plenty of HBF, that was the comment I was referring to. Where does Watts fit into that?

e25, I think you were of the same opinion as Baghdad Bob several weeks ago at draft time. Because I was of the same opinion being a bit thin on halfbacks.

Smedts

Jacobs ??

ring any bells ?

Yeah, definitely, but not now that we have recruited a handful of that type.

I'm not sure Watts belongs on a HBF.

If not up forward, then on a wing.

I may have said otherwise earlier, but I've obviously changed my mind on the matter.

I dont think watts belongs at half back, but i think he could do well there and it might be good for his development to spend a bit of time there next year

I don't think he's terrified to have a shot but do wish he'd be more selfish at times .

Often looks for better options when a ping at the sticks is the best option .

Should come with more confidence of his place in the side .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
