Sadly true. He's doing his best to increase his value at exactly the wrong time. Fortunately we should have a pretty early fist pick so I doubt we'll be forced to use that on him. A pick in the 20's however I can see being very realistic given his current form.

Wow you really are a sad individual.

Ah dazzling one you are interesting in comments as usual!

So.. I have friends who ah well can I say have siblings playing in ah um similar environment!

Opinions are varied about players and so

I remember a movie a while back called "Romancing the Stone"

Ah the romance of getting a former players son into prominence for the MFC !

Hhnmm well, we might draft him we may not, lets just wait and see eh?

Sad maybe and realistic as well!

Have you even seen him play PK? Or are you just going by his skinny build similar to Jimmy Toumpas because he isn't a big midfielder ball winner that you crave for?

Where have you seen him play PK.

So you've got friends, who've go brothers who play under 18's and they reckon he's not all that good, that it?

Remember a couple of years ago when Jack Viney said that Toumpass was the best player in the U18's; you reckon he got that right?

So who should we listen to a couple of your mates's brothers or our professional recruiters?

That's one of the better sources I've heard around here in a while.

You might as well have said you heard it from Judd's grandmother and you would have had the same credibility.

Exactly. It's a ridiculous assertion. He's been in SA's best every carnival game bar one. For a HFF/wing that's quite an effort.

I'm so sick of the drafting for potential attitude that has taken over the AFL over the past few years and Wines is a good example of trusting the footage of what he CAN do, not what he will do.

Billy will be close to All-Australian, a chance at SA best player and is a diehard Dee's supporter and some people are worrying about 2nd or 3rd round picks... We've got exclusive rights to a beauty and the footage shows he'll be a good AFL footballer. Luck is starting to turn our way and we have 3 father son picks after next year that will hopefully lead us toward the exclusive 13th.

So I'm currently operating the a AIS/AFL outduction.. And saw a few highlights of Stretch and the kid looks to have good skills and decent height. When interviewed by Jackovich he spoke very well, could be a hand father-son.

Picket fence is just dead wrong about this, stretch has been fantastic, he has pushed himself from possibly a 4th rounder too a decent chance of being all Australian

Well that he might be but ask yourself this question, do we recruit the best in draft or for need??

And while you ponder that question ponder this!

Yes he has great skills and ability but BUT he is only 180 cm Scrawny and an outside mid! Remind you of anyone?

I reckon we draft as many big bodied inside mids as we can. Touch of class please!

Yes we might draft him but not in a month of Sundays for anything other than a third round selection!

That's my take!

On viewing both Toumpas and Stretch in the champs, to my eye - Stretch has FAR better balance and composure.

Jimmy looked a touch rushed and awkward, even back then, not a lot has changed.

But from assessing the two players, I have no doubt at all that Stretch will be the better player - he already has twice the core of Toumpas.

I rated Toumpas between picks 15-25, I rate Stretch between picks 8-15. Based solely on the Nationals though.

So you're just leaving your initial argument when it's heavily questioned and taking a completely new tack. Got it.

Wow because he is skinny and plays outside you automatically presume his career will exactly turn out like Toumpas..

Your unbelievable PK. You know absolutely nothing about football and this proves it.

You dont just load up on inside mids just because of the sake of it! You need a balance of players. You need inside mids but you need outside just as much as inside. Look at guys like Hill and Smith from Hawthorn. Both played critical role in last years Grand final win.

Steele Sidebottom and Dale Thomas in their premiership win. Heck Sidebottom was close to winning the NS medal that.

Keep embarrassing your self old timer. I get a good laugh out of it.

The point about F/S is that in theory you get a player for a lower pick than what they merit. Given that it's not about "best in draft" but rather "best available at the pick", you'd have to say the weight of probability of him coming to the Dees is well on Billy's side, simply because he should (easily) be "best available at the pick".

Hopefully Round 3.

I rated Toumpas between picks 15-25,

Whatever you doing quit now and get together a CV to be recruiter - every recruiter in the land had toumpas top 5.

(btw - did you post that on here ? Just curious)

We get it picket you like inside mids, I'm sure roosy is smart enough to see what we clearly lack is pace and line breaking and good skills and Billy has all three

He's worth our second rounder imo

Your lack of footy knowledge does not surprise me Dazzler

Ok No, I wasn't referring to Jimmy Toumpas ! I was referring to one Cale Morton! and I was referring to player type!

That's one wrong

Secondly you refer to Hawthorns outside mids as proof PROOF that outside mids are just as important as inside mids.

Well now let me see Hawthorns inside mids consist of Hodge, Mitchell, Sewell et al takes a turn and that my friend is the grunt tough inside mid which gets it out to the outside receivers of which the Hawthorn types are nearly as good as the insiders.

That type of midfield wins premierships,

ah we don't have too many of those!

That's two wrong!

Steele Sidebottom great player a modern day utility who combines grunt and nous when to go in and when to stay out! Gee I wish we had him at Melbourne!

So while we gild the lilly and dalliance around the recruitment of a Scrawny outside mid who has got ability, clubs in the know snare tough insiders because anyone with footy knowledge knows, it all starts from the coalface!

No wonder other clubs have scoffed at our recruiting in the past!

That makes it 3 zip to the Fence by my calculating!

Go hang ya windsock out in the breeze, better hope the rain gets to it lest it might blow away, like a scrawny outside mid!

Your turn!?

Your turn!?

Stephen hill, Danyle Pierce, Issac Smith, Stephen Motlop, Brad Hill, Mathew Suckling are just a few examples of outside players of serious quality,

the problem with having all big bodied inside mids is the teams with half a brain or a balance of inside or outside will absolutely destroy you on the outside with pace and skill, we need a balance or we won't get near a flag,

we have Nathan Jones, Dom Tyson, Jack Viney, Daniel Cross and Bernie Vince who are capable of winning the inside ball, but they aren't quick with the exception of maybe Bernie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
