Don't want a thread to bag the guy as im sure he tried to do what was best for himself. Good luck to him in the future whatever it holds.

I just thought he walked out on us for a 3 year contract and we would only offer him 2. Im obviosly mistaken on this did we only offer him 1 year and carlton gave him 2?

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Walked out on the mighty demons, who offered him a reasonable 2 years contract when he couldn't even get into our 22, expecting to walk into another team.

Aaaaah. No. No sensitivity here. I reckon Bailey's much-discussed response to him leaving was a pretty good sign he wasn't putting his club first.

The only sadness is the link to his old man is now snuffed out. As for Chris himself, I regard him the same as a Danny Hayes, or Isaac Weetra. Just wasn't up to it, despite his skills.

Far bigger fish to fry at the dees.

Heh! I hope he enjoys the bush leagues. Terrible player who did us a favour by walking.

The only professional athlete i know by the name if "Chris Johnson" plays for the Tennessee Titans. Would be very surprised to hear there was an AFL player by the same name, as I did not see him play in the big leagues over the past year or so...

Seriously though, serves him right. If ever he would be given a chance to prove himself as a player it was going to be at his dads club. Instead he gambled with his career, and it has ended as a nothing player at Carlton.

i know a bloke who is close friends with alan for years and he was saying that chris had told his dad of regretting leaving the club because apperently carlton had told him mid year that he is pretty much finished..

karma's a [censored] chris!

The Blues have given Chris Johnson the khyber. The news was apparently broken to him in a sombre fashion and his departure was not as heated or volatile as that when he left the Demons two years ago. It's a sad end to the career of the son of one of the club's all time greats.

I wish him well in the future.

Others have been dumped by Ratten as well and doubtless, there will be some here who will suggest that we draft them next month!

Ive never seen such an average player with such an inflated opinion of themselves. Another small win for the Mfc.

According to Blues' website:

Delisted: Fisher, Browne, Anderson, Tiller, O'Keefe, Johnson and Donaldson ®.

Elevated from Rookie List: White, Ellard and Garlett.

Brad Fisher could be a good pick-up; but would not get a game in the MFC defence (would be behind a few too many).

Chris was an excellent kick and unfortunately didn't develop the rest of his game to compliment that asset

I only hope James Strauss can do what Chris Johnson wasn't able to do

One trick ponies are obsolete in the modern game

His dad was my favourite player growing up. Chris was only a fringe player with the Dees and I guess he tried to further his career.

I was hoping he would be half as good as his dad for the Dees.

Wore my #9 with pride back in the 80's, so I was shattered to hear Alan wanted nothing to do with us after the fiasco with Chris. However I think this may reunite Alan with the Demons. They will have to realise they made a mistake walking out on the Demons, and hopefully an olive branch can be extended..

ps: Who is Danny Hayes?

How I feel right now:

A nice young fella, & so was his Dad. Not bad rubbish!

Just couldn't do it. He had a go, came up short. All the best Chris.

He got further in AFL than I could have, and I imagine it's the same for most of us.

I know guys who would literally give an arm* to play just one AFL game.

That's not to say comments regarding CJ as an AFL player are wrong - just to add some perspective.

*I imagine this would be handed (geddit?) over after they played their game.

I would bloody hope not, considering he is a forward!

Last kick for the M.F.C. was a goal, in the wet on a friday night V Geelong as we were thrashed by 118points, SOOOOOOOOOOO LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG C.J

Well, we all get to live by our decisions and now he gets to live by his. Goodluck with your future career Chris.

He thought he was better than what he actually was. He left thinking he'd walk straight into the Blues 22.

But that's Karma for you isn't it?

It's catching up to Brock too. Fast.
