Hi All

Call me crazy and shoot me down if you will.I am a mad demons supporter but I live with 2 collingwood supporters(Husband and son) who are AFL silver members but Eddie changed the rules this year(he isn't doing a ballot for silver members, you have to upgrade to legends or no chance of a grand final ticket) and they have no chance of getting a ticket through their club.I need to get them out of the house on Grand final day or they will drive me nuts.I know this is a long shot but I promised my son if Collingwood got into the Grand final I would ask you guys and last night my worst fears were realised. If anyone knows of any tickets available or if you can direct me in the right direction that would be great.I am happy to pay above ticket price for 1 or 2 tickets

How much are you prepared to pay?? I know where to access GF tix but they have to come with a GF Brunch at Etihad Stadium thru an AFL wholesaler. Will be well over a grand a pop however! I can PM u details if required! As you`d expect, they are selling like hotcakes. People are coming from O/S to go to the game and price is not an issue for starved Pies. They`ll be gone soon!

Gee,everyone else on here has been so good about this,I guess it takes all kinds.Just asking for a favour if anyone would be king enough to help.

As harsh as JW sounded, I'm pretty sure they are right in saying that it would risk their AFL membership by giving someone else (a non-member) their barcode for tickets.

From what I understand, you purchase a ticket with the barcode, they (ticketek) type in the member number, then the member's name appears on the actual ticket. Then, when you try to get in to the football, they would check id to make sure the name matches. If it doesn't, you've lost your money, and the member probably loses their membership.

Unfortunately, the AFL have it set up as a corporate day, rather than 2 sides supporters going to watch their team play in the last game of the year.

Nb. Happy to be proved wrong as I'm not 100% sure how it works, and I have friends who have the barcodes but are non-members, and are wanting to buy tickets but don't want to risk losing their cash/their friends AFL membership.

Yeah, I just assumed that the AFL membership was transferrable.

If not, the request is totally unreasonable.

I probably won't go, but would never risk giving my MCC membership to someone else.

Not a chance. Even if they weren't a collingwood supporter!

Yes, true,,, but an AFL member could surely buy the tickets & hand them over to the person they were giving a helping hand to.

Nope. Membership is non transferable and I.d checks, although rare, do happen. The ticket itself, because purchased with the afl membership, is also non transferable. Too big of a risk for someone who has waited 8 or so years to become a full member.

Even if AFL Silver members were in the ballot there'd be no guarantee of a ticket, so it might have been worth investigating grand final options earlier. It's definitely something Dees fans should be thinking about in a couple of years.

As for using someone else's AFL membership, the AFL's mentioned they'll be more vigilant with ID checks etc.

It's not like your son needs to attend the function. If your reluctance is because of the cost, you might have to suck it up if you want tickets to the grand final.

That said, ticketing arrangements for the grand final suck.

PS. I wonder what the requests will be like on here when the Dees make the grand final :P

HI There

I do understand what you are saying about the AFL full membership, and you are probably right it may be to big a risk for some people and that is fair enough.I have tried all the footy clubs and they are all sold out so maybe it is just my hubby that will be lucky enough to go.But I still hold out hope that someone from a non competeing club may not want their tickets.Just to let you know my son is also a Demon member, hopefully in a few years he will be coming with me to a grand final to watch the Dees win.I agree,It will be very interesting to see the messages on here when the Dee's arrive in that Grand Final.I know if I could I would help someone out and I appreciate all the help and advise that was given by some Demonlanders

Its not possible in the MCC to "borrow" memberships anymore, as every member is photographed. I have no idea what AFL members go through.

Am still deciding whether i will go on saturday...it is special to be there live when the Filth lose.... :)

Wow,thats amazing that MCC use photo ID.AFL members don't have to do that yet but maybe it will be on it's way for them as well. Thanks for the explaination I'm all new to this but am learning very quickly.

Theyve had it like that for about 5-6 years now.

Maybe longer.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
