Alwyn Davey wants out

If you have concerns over them, or if you think they're just plain no good, then there is room.

No, there still isn't room, for the simple reason that there's no room on our list for a 27 year old player who just isn't any good.

This discussion would only have merit if Alwyn Davey could play AFL football. But he can't. So this discussion is a ridiculous waste of time.

Does it ever occur to some that a change of scenery may be beneficial for a players development and improvement?

I'm not sure the one's who are all for Alwyn coming to MFC are saying that we should get him because his surname is Davey.... Maybe a 10 year old would be of that camp, but I am not sure how many 10 year olds have accounts on this forum.

I'm not sure Joel Mac is an amazing backman, but we picked him up and he has done pretty well.

If we could pick up Alwyn for basically nothing than I would be pretty happy.

Alwyn seems a confidence player. Is highly skilled regardless of what some say and would help Wonna rather than hamper him as long as they are both selected.

Would be a handy pickup if he stays injury free and if it wouldn't cost us much.

I said in the Cam Bruce / Gold Coast thread that there is no room for sentiment in modern list management. Same principle applies here.

It's a no from me 2. I'd rather they use the few picks they have for young talent not players 26+, unless they're a proven gun and

Alwyn's no winchester.

Not a winchester, barely a spud gun.

He's got some speed, but he's a very unreliable kick, injury prone, old and doesn't really find much of the footy.

In fact besides getting a handful of tackles in the forward line, he doesn't do much at all.

I know forward-line pressure is all the rage, but we need more from our small forwards.

At this stage I rate all of Maric, Bennell, Wona and Jetta ahead of Alwyn.

That won't likely change.

He's also soft.

But at least he'd be able to run down Watts at training and the coaches could replay the vision over and over and over again. Couldn't they ?

Alwyn Davey's bio from the Essendon Website:

He will be closing in on 27 years at the start of next year and is averaging a little under 14 games a season with injury problems in each year which suggests some brittleness in the body. Worth considering but not at a particularly high price to the club.

Pass for me.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
