Trade Jamar

Featured Replies

The only real issue is that we dont have any ruckmen to take his spot.

Of course we do - Spencil!! And Gawn can easily ruck against Cox, Sandilands, Jolly, Hille and McIntosh!

Geez guys!!

Most ridiculous suggestion I.ve heard. Who will give us that advantage in the centre over the next 2-3 years. None of the others are up to it yet. Maybe in 2-3 we will have someone who has acheived what he has to take over the reins.

NO!!! NO!!!! NO!!!!!!

Agree- Jamar has developed in becoming the most important player in our team IMO,however we need to find some support for him-whether the FD believe we have it now or need to trade. This is a major evaluation right now.

Something that I've been considering for some time is whether we should trade Jamar.

He's been great for us this season and will be useful in developing the other rucks, however, his value is at it's peak following his inclusion in the All Australian team.

He's my argument for trading him:

- he could be worth a first round draft pick (Jolly went for pick 14 and 46 when he was 27)

- he's 27 and will start going down hill in the next couple of years

- he's just played his best season

- this is the first season in which he's played 22 games, he played 21 games in 2006, but other than that, his previous best was 14 games in 2008

- he's an All Australian player and that will inflate his value significantly (Burgoyne was worth picks 8 & 9 despite his only All Australian appearance being in 2006, three years before he was traded)

- we could recruit another young player or two with a high draft pick who will develop alongside Scully, Trengove, Watts & co.

Who would want him?

- Hawthorn?

- Bulldogs?

- Adelaide (pick 14)?

- Port (pick 16)?

- Gold Coast?

- Carlton (pick 18)?

It's difficult to see who would pick him up, although I'm sure that things will become a lot clearer once the Gold Coast enters trade week and other teams get some of their picks in exchange for their players.

No way!

Thanks for the edit. Almost had a heart attack.

Haha Gooner whilst... hahha.. you are thinking ahead.. hahah sorry some of the responses brilliant.. and trying to stay ahead of the game big Russ is really our only option for the ruck spot. We need to keep him and run him into the ground until he can't run no more. A large portion of time, money and effort has been pored into him, he is the bridge between our next big guys developing.

My first thought was that someone had bumped this thread from two years ago.

I understand the idea, but it would only make sense if we had two ruckmen. By that I mean Jamar + someone else who is actually competent in the ruck.

Since we don't, trading Jamar is akin to pressing the self-destruct button. We would struggle to win more than 5 games a year.

So no.

i thought this was a brought up thread from a while ago when i saw the title.

Please tell me OP that you are joking and just wanted to see a reaction. As he has signed a 2 year contract I doubt Melbourne would want to trade him anyway

It's hard enough to have to make the calls on blokes like Junior but to go trading blokes that hit form because their currency is high would be club moral killing . Who would want to stay , and who would want to play for us .

Is it 1 April?

on par with the " will Jack Trengove make it" topic as the dumbest sh** I have read on this site!!!!!!!!

Ridiculous thread B)

Great avatar.

I think now that we have a very young team, we can lay off the youth obsession, particularly given that Jamar plays the position where the best players have proven to be the older guys.
