OUT: Warnock (we lack run with him in the side) Bennell (phases into another dimension for about 45 minutes every game), Newton (this guy is MAX GAWN),

IN: Sylvia (der . . . clearly one of our best players), Macdonald (gives more sun than Warnock and is a better contested mark), Bate (brilliant Casey performance).

Wholesale changes on the back of our first trip to AAMI in which we had more scores than our opponents this century would not be the right call, IMO.

EDIT: Added Bate based on his good Casey performance. I'd also add Miller, but it appears that would be a waste of time.

Oh, and Addam Maric might be worth a run as well.

The final quarter of the Casey game is just about to start.

You can follow it on our Casey board - Werribee Tigers v Casey Scorpions

IN: Sylvia, Bate, MacDonald, Miller

OUT: Bennell, Bail, Warnock, Newton

Miller and possibly Bate (pending GC rumour??) for farewell games. Bate deserves a spot ahead of Newton though...

Out: Morton, Warnock, Newton, Bennell

In: Sylvia, MacDonald, Miller, Tapscott (for some enthusiasm and excitement)

Morton was crap and undeserving of his spot.

Warnock was destroyed by Schulz, and MacDonald will hopefully be fit. We don't need all of Warnock, Frawley, Rivers, MacDonald and Garland.

Newton was, as usual, terrible.

Bennell shouldn't have played this week and just doesn't do enough. No influence again.

Sylvia and MacDonald pick themselves, Miller looks like he's earned his farewell game (will pinch hit in the ruck I suppose) and Tapscott I really want to see.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bell get a farewell game either, just for fun :).

So are people saying Newton was worse than PJ last week? Looking at the stats he appears to have done a reasonable job.

He was abysmal beyond belief. Gone at end of year.

Although Newton's tackle at the start of the game on D. Rodan was fantastic!!

Rodan was heading into Port's F50 when BANG... Newton rode him into the turf.

Wow.

He also took Mark of the Year in 2007.

One-off moments of semi-decent football do not mask the rest of the time he spends in the side, which is characterised by a lack of effort and little to no influence. Coupled with the fact that he fails to learn anything between being dropped and recalled and he's gone.

From the MFC website.........

Port Adelaide 3.2 8.2 15.6 17.10 (112)

Melbourne 2.6 5.10 8.11 11.17 (83)

GOALS

Port Adelaide: Schulz 5, Boak 3, Gray 3, Pearce, Thomas, Broadbent, Hitchcock, D. Stewart, P. Stewart

Melbourne: Jurrah 4, Wonaeamirri 2, Watts, Dunn, McDonald, Green, Scully

BEST

Port Adelaide: Boak, Cassisi, Pearce, Schulz, Brogan, Gray, Rodan, Carlile

Melbourne: Bruce, McDonald, Jurrah, Morton, Frawley, Scully, Trengove,

Clearly Morton did something ok today.

More scoring shots than Port is at least one positive in an otherwise dismal performance. I don't believe there should be wholesale changes however i would suggest that

Out- Newton, Warnock, Bennell

In- Bate (5 goals today), Sylvia, MacDonald

COP IT SWEET EVERYONE!! :) Sorry but I was a lone hand providing backup for the 60kg Cale Morton.

It's amazing what people can say when their team loses...

Morton was good today and shouldn't be dropped next week against North. Well done Cale.

Well they've also got Trengove in there, so that says it all I'm afraid. Just because the MFC website says it doesn't mean it's true.

Morton went missing for huge lengths during the game, just because one report lists him in the best doesnt mean he was, he was appalling today. Same with Trengove, he looked listless at times, how he gets in the best is baffling.

You can gloat all you want, but theres no way Morton or Trengove deserve to be in the best today

OUT: Bennell (love him, but is a bit out of sorts), Newton, Bartram (ordinary last few weeks after looking the goods), Trengove (needs a rest, worked hard this year)

IN: Bate, MacDonald, Sylvia (if fit), and Miller (should not be on the list next year but has tried his guts out for us and would love to see him there for Junior's last)

Honestly think Warnock, Morton, and Bail deserve another week after breaking back into the team (as much as I think all 3 were average at best today)

While I'm not 'Big' on Newton... he gave us something today. He was competitive in the ruck and he got his own possessions, something that Jamar struggled to do. Morton spoils his good work with some poor decision making. He lacks confidence when kicking for goal, but he does get his hand on it and he keeps running. He will be around for some time! Bail was just 'so-so', we needed more from him. Bennell doesn't take his opportunities in front of goal. If he did we wouldn't be asking for him to be dropped. However, I agree, he needs to go back and fix this deficiency. Warnock played dumb footy! Green had a shocker! BRUCE was everywhere and did his captaincy ambitions no damage, especially in comparison to Green! Scully is a step above Trengove, and continues to show he will be a gun, even though he has some glaring turn-overs, he doesn't stop running and he is all over it in fourth quarters. Watts is great by foot, got whacked a few times, still doesn't get enough of it but is a class user of the ball. Jones was pedestrian. McKenzie battled on and was still giving us something in the fourth... I don't have a place for McKenzie and Jones as we become a top four chance. For mine, McKenzie is a more effective kick and he keeps his feet.

Not that i saw it but if the MFC site lists him in the best then they must have done something right.

Don't forget that it's not all about stats. They may very well have had certain defensive jobs that they performed well or something else in the eyes of the coaches.

not saying you are wrong, but just saying that you need to give consideration to other factors as well.

Those 3 inclusions will improve our team.

Bennel needs a rest, he has great attributes but has been down on form.

Newton to never play for MFC again.

Warnock... is now really just good depth. Macdonald a better player

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
