Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Fremantle... good call or an utter disgrace?

Just playing Devil's Advocate for a minute......

St Kilda did it last year and made the Grand Final.

Also, Fremantle travel intertsate basically every second week which i have no doubt takes a larger toll on their players than say players from Victorian clubs. The effect of this cannot be underestimated.

It is something they thought would be good in the LONG term for their campaign this year. Let's see how it all pans out before we jump down their throats.

Well what do you know! Good work Freo. I'm sure there's a few eating humble pie now...........

Nah, i hope Carlton get smashed and then go straight out in week one of the finals. Followed by The Filth in straight sets. Nothing could bring me to cheer for either of them!

A 6 point loss is as good as a thrashing for those scumbag blues! And the filth losing too is sooo good.

Now hope Sydney or Freo can send the Blues packing next week...... and then the Doggies can pull one out of the bag and shock the pies!

Mark Harvey may feel Vindicated now & Good luck to him. My major gripe with it all, is that if it happens again (and it will) i would hope the AFL would drop the admission prices of the Game(s) and suspend all bettings on those games.

obvious reasons.

They are...??

On Fox last week, Gerard Healy said that of the 7 players "rested", 4 to 5 were definite non starters with various niggles. They rested the other younger 2 to 3 players. Freo were already decimated with injuries before the selection.

Its ludicrous to drop admission prices. If a side is injury depleted then we should deplete the home side's gate take. Good thinking

The AFL does not control betting and there is no reason to suspend betting. As for punters, I am not sure why they should be protected. If they punt before a side is selected with rumours of a few out. It is there risk. If they do so after the side is selected more fool them. The side selection was done completely within the rules and timeframes, punters have nought to complain about. FWIW, suspension of betting on football would be a better outcome.

I trust you enjoyed supporting the Blues.

People are saying that their decision has been vindicated with the win on Friday, i disagree. They were in good form leading up to the Hawks match, and IMO they should've beaten the Blues quite comfortably but they got lucky and just scraped through. They flirted with their form and i think it's going to catch up with them, but having said that a second round exit is most likely. I can't see the blues backing up a second trip to Subi and winning.

Not true. The week before they were woeful against the swans and the week before that even more insipid against North.

So if the AFL should suspend betting "when this happens again"...

At what point is betting suspended? When more than 3 changes are made? When more than 6 changes are made?

What if they are legit injuries? How do you know if they really are or aren't?

What if just one player is rested? What if just one player is rested but he's an elite player?

What if just one player is rested but he is only a B+ rated player?

Who makes that judgement?

What is the difference between 5 C-grade players being rested and 2 A-graders?

Will some sort of mathematical formula be devised?

Complete logistical nightmare.

Will never happen.

People bet their money at their own peril/risk.

Many betting agencies would've wished betting had have been forced to have been suspended. I heard a lot of them had the line at about 27.5 points.

Yeah, Eskander was whingeing about it cos he felt forced to take bets on the match otherwise he'd lose customers.

Suspending betting would just make it easy for him.

I don't care, serves him right for making a living leeching off addicts.

I'm sure he's not going hungry over it.

Nothing wrong with a punt if that is your want, thankfully I had Freo (1-39) in my multi's this weekend and duly saluted B)

The bookies don't like it simply because it either, scares punters off games or punters go all in for what is a fairly obvious outcome. Like has been said above, the bookies are burned when they set lines not in their favour, but who didn't see coming, the decision Freo were going to make?

How sad the bookies have things stacked against them for once

Especially when they're going to Sydney!

Lol, one of my mates is a Carlton fan and he was saying he wasn't looking forward to taking another trip to Subi! I'll blame him! :P

Still didn't sit right with me.

Once again RR its your opinion & not the Gospel. And i never support Carlton, i was merely hoping Fremantle would lose. They didn't Life goes on.

But i will never be happy watching B Grade sides picked to represent clubs during the season for self preservation reasons-I don't like it. B)

yes thats what i did say RR, you love comprehension don't you. I was hoping that Fremantle got done, but i certainly didn't barrack for Carlton.

*Wriggle, wriggle*

Its a pity your comprehension is not very good.

And you did want Carlton to smash Freemantle although you didnt barrack or support them.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
