If the AFL were fair dinkum, they would be sending Freo a please explain letter for what appears to be a team practice, starting with the skipper, that when you feel any sort of pressure when over the ball around a pack, you dive forward to the ground with your arms out and try to milk a free kick. I saw Trengove win one for us last week doing it, and didn't like it, but the whole Freo team consistently do it all game. Disgraceful!

Actually I did notice the diving alot more today... in particular Palmer did it a few times in the packs and got a free kick. Davey had every reason to go off his brain when tackling that little carnt Ballantine... at no stage did Davey fall into his back because his hands and knees were on the ground supporting his own body.

Doesn't excuse his outburst. Lack of leadership again.

I think it should be a free kick for intentionally diving (especially diving forward when tackled), whether or not it would be a practical rule to implement I don't know but I got a lot of satisfaction out of Macdonald's hit on that rat Ballantyne.

You're not alone on that one.

Another thing that stood out to me were the amount of throws Freo got away with. 1 of them was so blatant in the forward pocket in front of the ump but he just let it go and it ended up a Freo goal. They did it all over the ground today IMO.

Did Joel Mac get a free for that? Plenty of prior opportunity when someone tries to sell a dummy.

i could not agree more but there is not much the afl can do, as soon as there is pressure from behind a player falls forward with the tackler drawing the free kick, i must admit the umpires did okay though seeing as it was occuring so often, it is similar to the selwood head drop to draw high tackles, umpires cant do much about it.

the throws really annoyed me, and the inconsistency on the holding the ball rule.

NO. DEFINITELY DID NOT GET THAT ONE. You're right though, he sold a dummy and tried to run through Joel Mac, who destroyed him! Unbelievable that it wasn't paid holding the ball...

I didnt think the umpiring was too bad today. However, that was a disgraceful decision!

Correct... and then 5 minutes later they pay holding the ball against Sylvia taking 2.5 steps in the back pocket... consistency please umpire?

You have to be a 2 or 3 goals better team to get the win in WA or SA fighting the crowd and in turn the umpires.

its interesting that pavlich was pulled up on it, finally afl should comment about it. Unless they say their own umpire was wrong...

Every side nowadays is guilty of diving or throwing there head back. Robbo was bad at it. Green throws his head back to much. But i do believe Freo make a point of it. It is all to noticeable when they are at home. Roger Hayden in the last did it, he didn't get the free but should be looked at for diving. But we shouldn't forget last week where we got a free 20m out for a player taking a dive!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
