Always much easier to find players to drop when losing, so i will kick it off.

Out: Jones(inj), Rivers, Watts

In: Dunn, McKenzie, Frawley

Like for like on all these selections.

Rivers may have been better yesterday, but if Frawley comes back in, it has to be for Riv.

Dunn is in for Watts and can also help Miller as a back up ruck.

McKenzie for Jones is an easy choice.

If Ryan Houlihan can go forward and kick goals as a defensive forward, surely Bruce could play a similar role for us. We need another player down there who can take a grab and kick goals.

Out: Miller, Rivers, Jones (Bartram if Jones is okay)

About to run out the door, will elaborate a bit later, though the changes mostly speak for themselves.

Miller has to go. Has played 10 good games in a career of approx. 120.

Out: Miller, Jones (Inj.), Garland

In: Dunn, McKenzie, Frawley

On notice:

Watts - You've got to stop losing your feet.

For those asking, the deal with Maric is that he's done nothing to earn a spot in the 1s. Ever. Wonaeamirri is a long way ahead of him.

Yeh, probably true. But sometimes with these sorts of forwards and knowing Maric a little bit, the penny may drop when they get their chance. So I would maybe give him a game to see if he is worth retaining on the list. I.e. give him every opportunity to fail or succeed. But I also understand the "don't give a game until it's earned" sentiment.

I know there wont be so many changes.

Out: Miller, Rivers, Bartram, Jones (inj.)

Dunn kicked 8 for Casey yesterday. Miller did nothing. As much as I hate Dunn, he will get the call up this week, and must play forward the entire game.

Frawley takes Rivers' spot. Bet on Collingwood going smaller next week anyway.

Cheney for Bartram: Bartram gives his all but sometimes that's not enough and he gave away at least 2 goals to Carlton from direct turnovers. His disposal and decision making are a liability. A lot like Bell in that respect. Cheney's been dominating for Casey for months now and deserves a call up.

McKenzie to replace the injured Jones. McKenzie should never have been dropped in the first place.

Watts to get another crack at it, but if he plays like he did yesterday he won't be going to Adelaide.

Correct.

Who played better - Rivers or Garland?

Who do we bring in if both Jones and Junior are out injured?

How do we devewlop Watts if we don't keep playing him?

Are we all now fully convinced that Miller is 1) not up to AFL standard, and 2) not part of the MFC future?

Maric hasn't earned a spot in the seniors yet. Leave Bennell there.

OK so why is McKenzie an automatic in everytime one of these threads start. Did he have a good game at casey? Does he actually deserve the promotion to the seniors?? Or is this again just a case of wanting favourite players back in. He is going to be a fantastic player for us, but at the moment, for all those who are suggesting Watts should be dropped because of form, shouldn't McKenzie remain at Casey until his form warrants selection?

Just wanting to know if others heard about McDonald doing his hamstring. It was reported that both he and Jones did there hamstrings yesterday. Does anyone know how bad it is?

If both he and Jones are out, we may need to bring McKenzie into the middle despite form.

I think that it is time for Dunn to come back, and would argue we needed the last two weeks with Bate out. He's another marking target up forward and has the versatility and agro this team needs at the moment.

I'm going to wait to see the IL before posting ins and outs.

I agree, i to am not sure why Mckenzie is an automatic in. People thought he was rested last week where in fact he was dropped. Two pretty good games for Caseygive him a chance at a recall but only if Jones or Mcdonald miss.

Maric hasn't earned a spot in the seniors yet. Leave Bennell there.

While I agree Maric hasn't stared in the VFL his form has been solid and Bennell hasn't had a touch since Darwin.

Well McKenzie was named in Casey's best yesterday so that is a good starting point.

Yes on all fronts.

Just too add too Watts really MUST lift he was pathetic yesterday surely being an elite juniour he would have been taught to keep his feet (exceptions for when he slipped over) he useless when he go's to ground.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
