If we had lost, Carlton would now be without one of Judd and Krueser. And we would have had better picks in 2007 and 2008.

The 2007 game might just be the best thing that has happened to us in quite some time: Here's the logic

Lose the 07 game we take: Kruzer in 07, in 08 we take Watts no.1, and maybe Stephen Hill or Daniel Rich (No way they take Naitanui after Kruzer the year before)

So what is better: Kruzer, Watts, Hill or Watts, Scully, Trengove

I take option 2...pushes us back one extra year but imagine your future life without Scullgove

Carlton were never going to win that game. If they were serious they might have tagged TJ and not benched their leading players that day unnecessarily.

However, MFC should not be criticising Carlton for tanking....

Not take Nik Nat at 2!! Why would we depart from best available? We could have played Kruezer forward and fill a big hole in the forward line. Stephen Hill is a going to be a good player but I dont know if MFC rated him at 2. I dont think they had D Rich close to pick 2 in his draft.

Player selection is all very well...let's deal with the real point...we got Scullgove, thankyou Carltank. Personally I was pretty suprised Rich was so low after seeing him at the carnival, though I still have questions about how high his ceiling is. IMO Nick Nat will be the fourth best player in that draft after in no particular order, Watts, Hill and Rich.

As you should note from the Melbourne vs Richmond game last year, coaches will go to some lengths to ensure they will lose the most winnable of games.

If I remember closely, the MFC coaching position was still open and Reilly in the mix at that time. Reilly should never have been told by the Club when he took over after mid season that he would be judged for 2008 in part on his success in the rest of 2007. We should never have beaten Carlton earlier that year and the win against a failing Dogs team set us up for the 3 card trick in R22.

Reilly may not have been told that when he took over the coaching job, but by Round 21 I am dead sure he was making & taking phone calls.

The Tanking of Round 22 2007 is not the issue here. We all knew it existed (except KB of course).
