interesting...col would be the other one

Especially if he is playing sore. That could explain a lot.

I saw a few minutes of our game v North before I had to go out. Col tried to snap a left foot snap across the body & stuffed it, he looked frustrated. He also looked like he's playing with less flexibility.

really happy for Jetta & Wonna if true, but will they both fit with Bennell? are we copying Carltons forward line structure?..

Jetta will probably play a speedy midfielder role, Bennell as a half-forward flanker, and Wonna as the goalsneak he is

Who is going to be Jamars deputy? Miller?

its interesting as soon as he got a deputy we started losing again.

Martin, PJ & Spencer dont warrant a place in the team for 10-15mins of ruck work a game, then have to hide them on the bench cos they have no other strings.

If Jamar needs a chop out for 5mins a quarter dont see why Warnock/Miller cant do it.. Dunn/Newton certainly did enough in the early games

That doesn't disappoint me. Bruce and Bate are injured, so MacDonald and Morton get their spots. Jetta takes over from Hughes, Miller can ruck better than PJ and at least give us something up forward, and Aussie is a best 22 player that will likely get his go in the place of Sylvia who will benefit immensely from a week at Casey.

That is of course, assuming you know what you're talking about. 5.00pm tomorrow is D-day.

Seems like it. A good move. We can't get less competitive in the ruck than what PJ gave us on Saturday, and Miller forward is a much more viable option than PJ forward.

Rewards Miller for consistent form at Casey, gives him what might be his last shot, and gets PJ out of the team. I'm not expecting Miller to dominate (and I wouldn't be surprised if the move failed completely) but I like it.

Agreed....happy with in's/outs.....(Bate, Bruce & PJ...thankfully! He's been given a go surely? - OUT)Morton a monty to return, Miller deserves a last chance or two this year & chops out Jamar, Jetta & Wonna would be great to see with Bennell and Davey.....(Reckon there may be something amiss with Davey? Chance to miss perhaps? Hopefully not but could be the reason that both Wonna & Jetta are on the plane, no doubt it would take something significant for Flash to miss this game I will say!)......even Sylvia seems to be carrying something (I have to believe that his consistency was getting better from the end of 09 into his start of 2010!)......My money would be on one of Wonna or Jetta playing or both if one of Flash or Sylvia miss............ geez Gysberts is working hard for a crack though! Get the Gys in!!

Big changes if true. Assuming Sylvia is the other out our team could look something like this:

Backs: MacDonald, Warnock, Rivers

Half backs: Garland, Frawley, Grimes

Centres: Scully, Moloney, Trengove

Half forwards: Bennell, Miller, Davey

Forwards: Green, Watts, Wonaeamirri

Followers: Jamar, McDonald, McKenzie

Interchange: Bartram, Jetta, Jones, Morton

Sad to see Bate go out but that is an exciting team!

Oh chances are one of the 5 are flying up as an emergency. So maybe there are only four changes and Sylvia is in?

IMO, that's because all our running players are kids. We lack the running & finishing power that the top mature teams carry. so we carry an extra runner. But, at Jamars expense. I hope we don't run him into the Merri Crk mud.

I wouldn't jump all over the newbie if he/she gets it a bit wrong when we see tomorrow's team. Things can change between now and tomorrow evening and the team as it stands now may only be preliminary. But if it's a lot wrong... look out. The vultures will be circling :lol:

that was what i was leaning towards.. i would of thought all clubs would take an extra when travelling interstate.. as much as sylvia has been down, he is way too good to be dropping after a couple of shockers (1 in the wet, and 2 vs wc and north which in both there were alot of passengers) he will come good, especially if bate is out

I have a feeling if Bate goes out, & I think he should have a rest before Geelong, it'll be for 1 week only. So,who would you bring in just for 1.

The ruck needs a hand up there in the humidity, just for one? Or would they take Spencer this week to have him ready for the Cats?

We Certainly Need to add some nippy players for up there in Darwin, plenty rovers, as the ball will be on the deck mostly.

I think Hughes could be usefull in those conditions, with his reactiveness & his athletic abilities.

There is no way sylvia is out of the team. rediculous people are suggesting it. yes he's had 3 ordinary games, but he had 2 rippers before that. We need to get these guys playing games together.

The more they play together the better the group will be for the future. and sylvia is defintely a big part of our future.

Sure if he is horribly out of form then drop him, but i dont' believe that is the case atm. His tackling and chasing is still good

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
