Finally!

JMAC and Frawley a clear 1 and 2 for mine.

Grimes is a strange one. He is a beautiful disposer of the ball except for about every fourth or fifth disposal, which is a completely shocking clanger. Still love him though.

I'll second these votes, they are spot on for me.

There is no way Scully should get votes, his disposal was terrible yesterday.

WOG is a tie between PJ and Sylvia.

Pull your finger out award: Three way tie: Sylvia - Bate - Davey

What?!?!

Sylvia of course. No problems there.

But Davey copped a knock to the head, spent a while off the ground trying to recover, and didn't seem fully right when he did come back on.

And Bate hurt his ankle, probably had an injection to fix it up, then came back on and gave us an option despite not being fit. He also created a goal by running back to the goalsquare when we had no one forward of a stoppage 30 metres out from goal. He was better than a lot of our players despite being hampered by injury. Bad call HT, bad call.

6. McDonald - brilliant yet again

5. Grimes - not helped by the midfield

4. Jamar - 3 excellent quarters with no backup

3. Frawley - kept them quieter than they should have been

2. McKenzie - never gave up

1. Warnock - to a lesser extent than Frawley

I felt we were "off" as soon as Josh Kennedy was not physically challenged by anyone before the first bounce. Then he kicked 2 in a row and all I could hear was the crickets chirping in the back of the stand and observe the pigeons settling in for a relaxing afternnon on our half back line.

A disturbing lack of intensity.

But here are my votes:

6 - Junior....love his endeavour

5 - Jamar, took on 2 good ruckman and held his own.

4 - Jordie McKenzie

3 - Matty Warnock

2- Jack Grimes

1 - James Frawley

Hope to see Morton, Aussie, Jetta and Martin back next week

For mine, Watts looked out of place - with an odd, hulking body posture (somewhat reminiscent of Kepler Bradley? god help us). Will take some years.

The clear leader in the award for most ridiculous comment of the year. I thought it was only a 5/10 game from Jack, but our benchmark for tall forwards (except for Bate) is pretty low. If Newton or Martin ever played that well as a forward, it would be a pleasant surprise.

Votes:

6. Junior

5. Grimes

4. McKenzie

...

The rest don't matter.

I'm not here to blow sunshine up your titan_uranus, these three were shining beacons last season. Knock to the head, tap to the ankle, won't change my mind. They were very average in my book. How many times did you see Bate get caught ? He cannot kick with his right foot what-so-ever. Kicking for goal was as bad as Sylvia's, which was almost non existent. And Davey needs to be much more prominent than he has been so far this season.

I haven't missed.

PS. I am asking them to pull their finger out, in case you missed.

The clear leader in the award for most ridiculous comment of the year. ....

How so. I arrived towards the end of the 2nd quarter. In the remaining time, he was a fair copy of Newton. He led to the wrong areas, had a turning circle the size of the titanic, was slow (whoever was on him had no trouble covering him), didn't get near to laying a tackle and nearly killed himself when he stuffed up a half chance of taking a mark from a kick into space (nearly slid head-first into the behind post).

But I must again make comment on his appearance. His footy gear didn't fit him (looked odd) and he has a weird hunched way of carrying his shoulders. I hope like hell they are not looking to turning him into the Hulk.

As I said, he will take time. Fingers crossed.

Could be wrong, but he looked to have a GPS inserted (upper back).

LOL @ "footy gear didn't fit him" .

You need to get a job on the red carpet at the Logies. Fashion Police extraordinaire.

That about covers it, so same for me. Not surprising that it's the backs getting all the votes, the game was played in their forward line.

And I said you were off the mark. Telling Bate to pull his finger out when he's clearly our hardest working forward, and who was struggling with a sore ankle, is just out of line (but yes, he could learn to kick on his right). And whilst Davey wasn't great, he may well have been affected by a possibly broken nose.

Ridiculous.

I know he wasn't the best, but I was really glad that he played a solid game even though it was talked up a bit. And the way he took it to Schofield really impressed me. I'll be less biased next week, but I thought 'easily top six' and he was the one that caught my eye this week.

Why? Were you at the game? To me he looked like a bogan running around. Read Kepler Bradley. Don't forget, we were playing the eagles; most other teams would have flogged us by 20 goals.

BUT, it his his 4th game. Give him 4+yrs he might be a josh kennedy; give him 6+yrs, he might be a Rewoldt.

Fingers crossed.

(And for what is worth, except when Bruce was giving Natanui jumping/marking practice, I thought Natanui very ordinary. But what do I know? )

I don't mind. He had a good game considering he must've been under pressure playing with Nic Nat and our top two picks from last year who have already showed some great performances. He definitely played better than the Scullgove twins...and Nic Nat just had those two speckies, he stood around for the rest of the game.

6. Junior Mac - how anyone could see different, then I wasn't there!! What a legend!

5. Jack Grimes - a little loose on disposal but hard to fault otherwise

4. James Frawley - keeps getting better and better Chip!

3. Jordie McKenzie - I reckon he was stiff not to get a Rising Star Nom.....I guess only winning sides get this?

2. Jared Rivers - Beaten a couple of times early, maybe fortunate that Kennedy was off a bit but showed his value being the loose man...reads the play so well and should only be used for this purpose

1. Jack Watts - hard to pick this week due to many poor performances but reckon Jack deserves a vote for his efforts in a forward line that saw horrible movement from up field, couple of great contested marks, couple of nice efforts at the ankles...the potential is there, time is on this 'boys' side.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
