Bennels effort. not good enough

soft as butter

we do not want to promote that

What about Grimes in the 2nd quarter when Pendlebury walked in to goal?

As long as these kids learn by it, and make sure they change, that's all I ask for this season.

Nb - This is Benny's 2nd season, he is still in development mode and I can assure you, Bailey wont accept consistent softness in our side.

Agree Billy,

Grimes didnt attack the footy either. very dissapointing.

This is bennal's second offence (think Geeling last year). It shouldnt happen at all.

Hardness?

How about the weak effort of a thread criticizing a kid in his second year for hearing footsteps.

Michael Voss openly admits to shirking the issue a few times as a youngster.

I'll worry once he gets a few seasons into him.

Even then, not every player is Brett Kirk or Nick Riewoldt.

yes lets pot Grimes for that miss. do we want to mention the numerous saves and countless times he beat his opponent today ? I thought he wasn't just good, but excellent in heavy traffic today.

but hey why not pick on a guy who played well with just over a dozen games but made a couple of mistakes.

Please, keep it together people.

Bennell was one of our best today, and certainly provided some spark in the forward line. He will learn from his obvious weakness in the clinches, and he is clearly a very skilled young player. He is an adequate replacement for Wonna, but in my opinion not in his class.

What I found so encouraging today is that we were competitive without most of our preferred forward set up. It was a great effort, and very encouraging

I think Bennell belongs on a back flank, but it was a good move by Bailey to put him forward.

I think he still needs significant development, but will be a poor man's McLeod.

Also, when questioning his courage, dud anyone take into account his mark running with the flight of the ball where he came within inches of colliding with the post..?

I think the senior players let down the young ones today- I won't say soft - but disappointing.Felt the skipper left them down a little and Bruce- he is light of his mega days. Still maybe unfit- but light years away from his best.I also think Warnock- has not hit his straps this year as well. Frawley played a little better, but it was Jamar- whom really was the shinning light of the senior players.Green also did his best. However overall- felt the team overall was the most ruthless they have been for a very long time

Is this thread for real. Both Bennell and Grimes have played less than a season's worth of footy. Last week it's sack Bailey this week Bennell and Grimes are soft. There's a few of you who need to have a good hard look.

Great effort today but i question the hardness of some of our players. you all know who.

thoughts?

If this is your attempt at constructive criticism it fails miserably. You question their hardness but don't even have the character to name them. I'll tell you who's soft chump - It's you.

Quit Bagging Jamie Bennell FFS talk about a disgrace.

He bought some speed into the forward line. He runs he's learning, give him a break

Well done Jamie-i enjoyed your game.

Totally agree. He's a damaging player - creative, fast, defensive. And I believe you can teach anything - even hardness. Why bag a player that's got so much going for him when there are others who don't contribute nearly as much to winning a game of footy as he does.

I think we should all take a cold shower on this issue. Sure it looked as though the kid withdrew from a crucial marking contest in the third quarter when a goal was begging, and dropped another crucial mark in the last quarter, but he also took a very courageous mark running into the goal post in that same third quarter.

Jamie Bennell is one of our potential teenage stars, and they do take time to learn and develop. He needs to be given space and time. Before today I wondered why we played him, but after today I understand better.

As the coach says we need to put gametime into these kids, and crucifying them in the process when they make mistakes doesn't help any of them.

It just shows that when people are allowed to voice their opinion, which we are all entitled too, well there are just some less than intelligent people on here.

Yes Bennell shirked an issue, yes he chased hard, he tackled hard, he kicked a goal and set up another, he dove head first to mark the ball and almost hit the goal post, but lets focus on the one negative. He will be a good player, and if he turns out to be a poor mans McLeod, I would be bloody happy with that!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
