I saw some footage after the incident with Colin running away, I don't think he was flattened like some are mentioning, I think he got a hip and should that just got him in the right spot to cause a break. It happens, as for our players helping out or having a crack at Kennedy I don't even think Colin did he just ran of with a sore jaw which unfortunately turned out broken. I'm sure if the players saw this and it was something menacing many of them would of ran if to let kennedy know he did the wrong thing.

I'm of a similar opinion.

As much as I'd like it to be a vicious bump so that Kennedy gets rubbed out for 4 weeks, I think it was fairly inocuous and is an unfortunate result of a common garden variety bump.

These things happen. We'd be best to move on rather than stew about it, but I'm also glad CC has come out with the response he did.

I don't mind Kennedy and others not getting weeks for accidental contact to the head.

But all I want is some consistency.

And also, I wouldnt compare Sylvia's hit on Selwood to this. Sylvia's hit was deliberate and uncalled for, and he deserved everything he got.

This is where I stand too. I just want comparable decisions to be made for comparable offences.

you would think the AFL Match Review panel would now have access to a multitude of examples of past incidents of which to go by.

unfortunately, because of (i) rule changes and (ii) the new system involving points for intent, reckless, negligent, etc etc and different impact degrees (ie. minor, medium, severe) it's more or less still up in the air in terms of consistency.

having said that, i think everyone was of the belief the head was sacrosanct and off limits whether in play or off the ball and that the AFL wanted to protect the players head. this recent decision somewhat bucks that trend.

yes that is fair enough but when has the AFL been consistent? At least we do know that CC will not forget this has happened....stay tuned for during the season. This will happen again.

Its a crock.

Hawthorn must be mightily peeved that Buddy is out given what has taken place.

After that decision the knuckleheads stated that when a player has a choice to tackle or bump, if they choose to bump then the onus in on the bumper to ensure a players head is not hit and no damage is done. Full stop.

Whilst it doesn't assist us what happens to Kennedy it will undoubtedly be used by others during the season to get players off for illegal off the ball bumps. yet again they have re-opened their own can of worms.

I really think the club should take a stand on this and let the AFL know we aren't small fry anymore...

The main reason there was no citing was because of footage given to the media so no one really cares....

If we have footage then CC needs to speak to his good mate who runs the highest rating AFL program around Mr G.Lyon and have the footage shown and ask what everyone thinks etc etc.... This will back the AFL into a corner because the precedent is set and it trial by media (of course it won't change the decision)...

The media is what drives the AFL and The footy show was used by eddie all the time to peddle his issues, we need to use it the same way so the AFL doesn;t want to angry us just like they don't want to angry Collingwood...

Jake King gets three weeks with no evidence except Travis Cloke's word, How the F*#k does this work ??

Maybe Sylvia's evidence helped Kennedy, Sylvia may have honored the traditional way.

What happens onfield stays onfield, & what comes around '''''''''''''''.

I would still like to think by the time we are fighting for finals that Sylvia will be playing full time in the midfield and we will see him at his best. He is not destined for a half forward on ball player.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
