Why should an injury to Jurrah compromise the development plans for another young player? Nuts.

Watts role and development path was never dependent upon the fitness of Jurrah.

Its not a matter of hiding Watts at all.

That is why we still have the likes of Miller on the list and Newton on the rookie so we can give development time to the likes of Watts and Jurrah. The MFC has been very deliberate about how it approaches player recuiting and development over the last 2 seasons I doubt they would change it over 1 injury...

He won't play round 1 and the club won't play him against Collingwood but expect to see him round 3 against the Crows or latest Round 4 against the Tigers, not a bad run for him to play Tigers, Lions, North,Bulldogs, WCE, Port

Fast tracking his development or letting him develop at his own pace at casey/AFL are two very diffrent things.

The FD will play Watts when he's ready. Him being ready has nothing to do with any other player. You've got to try to remember that in essence this is his first year and his first preseason. It's also been interrupted through careful management of injury. Both watts and the FD are getting used to his body and what it can handle. Watts needs 2 full preseason's at least. Expect some form in the second half of next year. I know, a full 18 months to wait, shocking isn't it.

You can't fix a forwardline instantly, generally it takes 4 or 5 years to develop a good key forward. Also, there's no point in recruiting a 'not quite right' key forward at the expense of a much better player in the draft just for the sake of recruiting a key forward, that's poor drafting. The only other thing the club may have done differently is to target a mature player in a trade, but this would be a waste for us as we're 3 or 4 seasons away from properly challenging.

Since CAC's 2nd last week year in charge of recruiting we've gone about it the right way for our future.

Since you are willing to put yourself in the shoes of the footy dept, please outline exactly how you would have fixed our forward line for 2010 including the names of players you would have recruited and at whose expense.

I don't believe they will fast track Watts. Ifs his fit they'll play him. Ifs he's underdone, they'll rest him. They will not jeopardize burning him out. Jurrahs injury will not have anything to do with it. I'm not sold on we should have pick up a forward with our PS Draft, just NOT JD. Jurrahs Injury does however give players such as Newton (Aarrhhhh), Martin, Dunn, Jetta, Maric, Fitzpatrick, MacNamara can cement a spot in the side. I think Dunn will be used as Jurrahs replacement, Its about time he stepped up. Anybody think Garland? Sometimes injuries bring players out of the woods when they get they opportunity to shine, with exception to Newton , My two cents.
