Based on a few glimpses of what our players are capable of.

Here is my best 22 list, with a view of playing young guns to get more games into them.

B Cheney Warnock Frawley

HB Rivers Garland MacDonald

C Bruce Moloney Morton

HF Davey Bate Green

F Sylvia Watts Jurrah

FOL Jamar Jones Grimes

INT Petterd McDonald Trengove Strauss

Emg Johnson Scully Wonaeamirri

I was thinking about this after watching the game the other day. besides morton who I would start on the wing I'll assume everyone else is available

B Cheney Warnock Frawley

HB Davey Rivers MacDonald

C Bruce Moloney Scully

HF Bate Miller Sylvia

F Maric Green Jurrah

FOL Jamar McDonald Grimes

INT Petterd Martin Trengove Watts

Emg Strauss Jones Wonaeamirri

It's great when it is difficult to fit everyone in and scully/trengrove are playing over Jones on pure ability rather than what they have proven

I guess Martin is useful as a backup ruckman / Key position.

Okay, you've tempted me in to doing this. Let me first say that a best 22 is almost impossible, it changes after every performance especially in a side so unsettled as ours. Instead I'm going to select what I see as the team I would pick each week, if I had all 40+ Melbourne players fit and firing.

B: MacDonald Frawley Garland

HB: Morton Rivers Bruce

C: Grimes Moloney Green

HF: Sylvia Bate Jurrah

FF: Watts Miller Petterd

Foll: Jamar Jones Davey

Int: Martin McDonald Trengove Scully

First point - regardless if its Brendan Van Schaik or Trent Zomer every team needs a second ruckman. It's take your pick between Meesen, PJ, Spencer or Martin. PJ + Meese have the form on the board but I've gone with Martin for his athleticism.

Backline - I don't think Warnock will ever amount for more than a good ordinary player. I'd prefer Frawley, Rivers and Garland. Joel Macdonald has impressed so far, Bruce is steady off a flank and Morton has the edge over Strauss, Bennell and co. That list is near endless such as Cheney, McNamara, Bartram but I'm not keen on any of them.

Midfield - Moloney, Jones, Davey the cornerstone. Grimes, Scully, Trengove the future, the latter two must play if showing anywhere near enough. The skipper still very important off the pine and I'd love Green forward (Green goes forward, Morton midfield, Strauss backline was an option) but he's still dangerous from a wing. McKenzie and Dunn might be the closest 2 to getting a spot here. But I heard Bell tagged well during the last practice game and I've heard Rohan Bail showed some nice signs on a wing.

Forward line - 2 default selections here. Brad Miller - we need his presenting and size atm. Jack Watts - he needs top level experience. Sylvia plays his half forward roaming role, with modern zoning defensive it was the role he was born to play. Bate, Jurrah and Miller form a combination. Neither of the 3 can command a forward 50, but if used properly can be dangerous marking options. Petterd gets the last spot, he played good footy last year and can mark and kick goals, get up the ground and apply solid defensive pressure. I couldn't fit in a crumbing option, but Wona is straight in if he can get back to his best, it's been too long without him! Maric close on his best as well.

Very few teams these days go with 4 bigs in their forward line, which makes me wonder if having Rivers, Frawley, Warnock and Garland in the same backline makes us too big down there, which causes a lack of run from defence and slow ball movement?

Its a hard one as he is in our best 22 but been out for so long, he may need some touch... I will say this that if he was going to play back I would go with the side named and he wouldn't play, even though both him and frawley can play small I think we would be a bit tall (although it depends on the opposition), I would happily have Garland at FF instead of green if they would keep him there as he was recruited as a fwd..

he's finished 7th and 4th in the last 2 BnFs because more often than not he does a good job on the gorillas.. Frawley is really the only other one on the list who can do that job and most sides have a couple of big blokes to be minded. Knockknock would be picked every single week if fit

I think it would be Johnson if fit (I know doesn't make sense I assumed everyone was fit) but you need a backup ruckman so Martin it is just to give Jamar some down time... Although I would prefer if Jamar could play the whole game and we went in with one ruck but it just won't happen

Why is everyone putting martin in?

The guy isnt a footballer, he is an athlete yes! but not a footballer..

He missed a shocking goal on the weekend and really cant kick..

Id have jetta in the ruck rather then him.. at least he can do something

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
