Scully great hands in close along the wing. Shocking free kick against him for holding it.

Dees make turn over... Rivers running on to it.... point! 1st is done.

28 vs 2 points Freo up.

Can we really be this badly coached or is it just first game nerves or travel. The whole idea is to get better, not worse. At this rate, the spoon is ours.

Sick of Miller already.

Watching this quarter was like banging my head against the wall.... painful and pointless.

On the bright side, Scully's hands are bloody amazing!!!

Hahah I have my helmet on already!!!

Look very good, his pace and ability to follow up to the next contest and go again also a highlight.

I've really enjoyed watching footy this weekend, went to Saints vs Pies Friday night with some mates, watch Swans vs Blues and North v Cats today. I am not enjoying this just yet.

For goodness sake, it's the first quarter of the NAB Cup.

We're not going to start this suicide crap all over again, are we?

We were never going to improve out of sight in one season. It's going to be a slow process, so enjoy the ride and stop with the panic. I almost forgot how painful this place is whenever we play poorly!

What we hope for is continued improvement, we have a lot of kids granted but we just aren't improving. I know it is the first quarter of the NAB cup but we are still playing the same way. No highlights not enough inside 50m our transit from defense into attack is still very very poor. We are playing the biggest front running team in the comp, if we don't show something in the next quarter we might get done by 10 goals.

scully's hands on show. can't get any flow into our game. dockers are rebounding well and preventing us doing the same. brad green looks a little unsure which is unusual. moloney trying hard. davey struggling to get into the game.

morton is trying hard and looking ok.

funnily enough we are getting hands on it at clearances just not hitting targets or finding clear targets upfield.

Come round 1, not sure I want to sit through a 100 point flogging.

A lot of nervous boys out there but christ no onw working into space

again we continue to kick to a contest where numbers are against us. We set really poorly

against set plays. Sandilands palmed it in Ballantyne's lap and he's 10metres in the clear.

No passion so far Dean light a fire under these boys.

Just stupid game plan.

We are the same as last year

Pavlich and Balantyne are loving it

Don't go overboard yet my man. Lets see how they run the game out...

Jetta good pick up in the middle... looking for someone by hand.. turn over... Docks having shot on goal. Goal

Healy riding us for terrible skills. They are giving Bennell a touch up according to Healy and Jacko.

After hearing some nice reports over the summer and hoping for a decent contest tonight

well I guess we are going to battle getting out of the bottom 4

Another goal now and we are 27 points behind this isn't looking good early

Bennell has made some bad mistakes early, loving scullys hands, nothing looking good forward

Some of our more experienced players like Davey, Green, Miller and Rivers are letting us down. We need a lot more out of them.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
