if it wasn't official before, it is now!!

Andrew Lovett has been officially charged with rape, and this must put is career in extreme danger of being over.

The bombers must be wrapped getting what they got for him in trade week.

I have just deleted some posts and warned a couple of posters on player abuse.

Tread carefully guys in this subject. If you have not got something constructive to say about Lovett, dont bother saying it.

It really is a sad situation for the woman involved, for the Saints footy club and for a guy who has a history against woman that one his last chance at footy he "allegedly" (is it still allegedly?) interfered with a sleeping woman.

While I completely understand that legally we need to watch what we say (and agree with your actions to delete the posts in question), I think Lovett is one guy who doesn't deserve our protection.

If he is found guilty, the wrath of a few Melbourne supporters should be the very least of his problems, and I hope like hell that for once the AFL doesn't sweep this under the carpet or tries to protect the player from his legal and social responsibility to society.

Footballer or not, anyone who assaults or rapes a woman should rot in jail.

I'd better not say anything then.

I dare say the AFL will of course frown upon issues such as this, guilty or not. Because he is charged with rape, there is a court case pending, it's very hard for anyone to comment until completion.

From a St.Kilda perspective, they've really bottomed out with this trade. The Bombers - whilst dealing with the Hurley case - will feel somewhat relieved.

On Lovett, I must say I thought that there was alot of ill feeling between St.Kilda and Lovett before that trade happened. Most noteably the run-in between Riewoldt and Lovett at the Telstra Dome some time ago in relation to Lovett's off field discretions. It was quite surprising that St.Kilda did that trade and people of the ilk as high as Ross Lyon may have been unaware of the past at that particular time.

He is a troubled soul by the looks of it. But that does not make me feel sorry for him. what he is "Alleged" to have done is just terrible.

I am happy to leave it there.

And we should leave a lot of things there if, for nothing else, legal considerations.

Please be very careful when discussing this very sensitive subject folks!

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
