There is a reason they are forgotten. Cheney is not fast enough and we have enough plodders. MacDonald will be a defender. Sylvia (how could I forget him) and Petterd are also in the mix. Aside from McKenzie I think the rookies will have less chance than the forgotten crew --posted by R.R-.

I understand your point however in discussing Cheney last week at training it was thought, he along with Mckenzie,Grysberts etc.. could actually develop into a Ling type. You will also find that Joel MacDonald WILL run through the guts at times. He has been training all pre season for this task along with Cheney, Bennell etc..

The interview was lightweight and breezy. Talking about Martin in the ruck would only open a discussion on the injured ruck pack. Its was not necessary for CC to focus on that in that forum.

Martin will still have opportunities in the side.

Fair point.

Think of Jack Grimes as the new Brett Lovett.

More Graham Yeats IMO

More Graham Yeats IMO

I think he'll be a backline general like BL. I agree though, that he moves more like GY!

A useful byproduct of Grimes in defence setting things up is that Flash can play further forward where he's much more dangerous. In fact, with better disposal out of defence from JoelMac, Bennell, Strauss, Garland & Frawley as well as Grimes, there should be many avenues out of defence in future, in contrast to 2009 when IMO we were much too dependent on Davey & therefore too one-dimensional & predictable and too easily shut down out of defence by the good teams.

I like Cheney, he seems to me to a natural footballer. I am not convinced about his pace but his aerial skills and reading of the play are very good, with accountability being a weak spot.

Happy to keep him on the list and see if he flourishes in a team that gets stronger. You never know, he has attributes of a Clement who wasn't rated highly early on in his career at Freo, but became a top defender. Good size, good body work and composed.

We do need pace in the backline though. We have the makings of a great defence but not overly quick (Frawley excepted).

You missed out the possibility of adding the forgotten players Rohan Bail,Bell,Bartram,as well as Cheney could definitely run through the guts, along with Petterd,MacDonald and McNamara with a definate Sylvia. Rookies one could add are Healey, McKenzie and Hughes.Note Hughes as been training as a back flanker.

Are you sure about that? I get to the junction oval at least twice a week and every time ive seen the forwards on the track Hughes has been there. I havent noticed him training with the backs at all.

Everyones forgetting Dunn. I think he and Maric will have breakout years. I know lots here don't think that but I'm getting in early to put it on record!!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
