Still so young, both these players feel like they have been around for ages.

I remember seeing Nath Jones at a MFC Family Day at Caulfield Racecourse. It was just after he had been drafted; he was a standout in my view, by which I mean he was there with other draftees of that year, and he was the only one of them that wasn't walking around with a stick up his ass! Earned a lot of respect from me that day.

Hope he can take his game to another level this year, as I think he will be a vital part of the development of our midfield.

I agree totally and to think Jones has played 70 games already and Morton 40 games makes them like veterans or at least senior players at the club already with 30 odd players that have played less games than Morton..

Its do or die for them now......kidding.

Looking forward to seeing both play in 2010, as well as the other 30 or so players.

It feels like he's been around forever. It's easy to forget that he's just a kid when he's been required to play Atlas and (help) hold up a woeful midfield, and get a disproportionately large amount of scrutiny as a result. He's one player who deserves some load taken off his shoulders with the new batch of mids coming in.

Agree, although for our midfield to be prominent and compliment the new recruits we definitely need Jones, Sylvia and Moloney to lead the way again this coming season.

probably takes the most physical punishment of anyone in the side, and does the most critical job in winning the pill out of the packs ... still a couple of years from his peak football, will be one of our most important when we make our surge at the cup. So underrated

If he was put on the trade table, 16 clubs would select him. Says a lot. I remember Malthouse said he was our best extractor a year or two ago.

With McLean gone, he's going to be one of the more visible and noticeable guys going through our guts. I showed some footy to a yank I'm trying to get into the game and he said Jones was the most effective of our midfielders.

A very, VERY important individual to the club for the next 6-7 years.

I noticed at training the other week he already has quite a bit of new artwork, all down his forearm. I agree with previous posts that he is a very underrated player in footy circles and I think he will show the footy world just how good he can be.

I agree with you all, both of these players are and will be very important over the years of growth. Jones, hopefully will have pressure taken off him, with the likes of Trengove & Scully,Grysberts & Tapscott whilst we should not forget Maric ,Wonaeamirri and McKenzie's development along with Bartram & Bell as standby's. Hope I have not forgotten any.

Grimes, Bennell, Davey, Jetta, Morton to name a few more

I spotted both Nathan Jones & Colin Garland entertaining a group of kids down at Adventure Park Water World in Geelong

on Thursday. Both highly visible in there Demon polo Shirts.

I didn't approach as both where very focused being king of the kids with a group of approx 20 twelve year olds.

Both looked very relaxed & very fit.

Garland was showing zero signs of any complications from his foot injury.

It looked to be some terrific community work in progress from these two young blokes.

Hope they both have ripping seasons in 2010

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
