Barry's 22 and more...

I know I'm a good show to get pasted for this, but I've been watching the Dees on YouTube and I'm planning on being cryogenically frozen until the start of next season. Just like Cartman waiting for the release of the Nintendo Wii, I can't bear the wait.

Here's my team for Round 1 next year. Very hard to assemble. A combination of getting the young kids out there and also getting our seasoned players out there with them.

Would love to see others give their MFC 2010 dream team.

FB: Bennell Frawley Cheney

HB: Grimes Warnock Rivers

C: Scully McDonald Bruce

HF: Green Bate Sylvia

FF: Petterd Jamar Jurrah

Foll: Spencer Davey© Moloney(VC)

IC: Trengove Watts Morton Jetta

Our backup in the case of inevitable injuries and match-up changes (how's the depth!!!???):

Martin

Jones (why couldn't I fit this legend in?)

Dunn

Johnson

Miller

McKenzie

Maric

Meeson

Not yet sighted, or have had long injury runs (and would love to see them back):

Garland

Wonn..errr Wonna... em.. you know

Blease

Strauss

Rohan Bail

I'm Big Kev: Excited.

....... Serhat Temel.....

Barry now cowers in a shower of eggs thrown by fellow Dees supporters...

Could happen but very doubtful

If we take him it would be late/rookie

and those players never become full forwards.

I think Bruce and Macca will do what they did in the last half of the season and play of a HBF and a BP respectively.

Garland would struggle to be up for Rd 1 in the AFL.

Scully and Trengove would be ready to go I would think. Strauss, Blease, Maric, and Wonaeamirri should push too.

I would love to see Watts play wing/HFF for 16+ rounds next year.

Bruce, McDonald, Frawley, Warnock, Rivers, Bennell, and Grimes to be the 7 in defence.

Davey, Moloney, Jones, Scully, Trengove, Jamar, Martin, Sylvia, and Morton to be the 9 to run through the middle.

Bate, Watts, Wonaeamirri, Green, Jurrah, and Miller to be the 6 in attack.

Injured players replaced by Petterd, Maric, Cheney, Jetta, Spencer, McNamara, and Strauss.

Ok so to relax everyones fears I was was talking to Colin five minutes ago and his foot is coming along well so its not career threatening.

I think Aaron Davey would make a great captain but hasn't Junior already been confirmed in that role?

Anyone know?

Fair enough, Junior's also a very good captain. I was just a bit misty eyed at Aaron's re-signing for 4 years and at Beamer's heart-felt acceptance speech at the B&F.

I'm a Newton fan, so that's why I have him in, but realistically, Miller or Martin would come into the 22 for him round one you would think. I'm also a Dunn fan, but couldn't squeeze him into the side, I really hope he forces the hands of the selectors and earns a spot. Same goes for Martin.

I tend to believe that we'll structure the team along rpfc's thoughts.

I'd expect both McDonald and Bruce to play across the HBF and BP along the lines of the roles they played in the latter part of the year, with them spending no time in the centre and play a leadership/development role with the likes of Bennell, Strauss, Cheney, Morton and Grimes.

I think we'll see Blease, Jetta, Grimes and Morton to be rotated across the wings, with Jones, Scully and Trengove to be rotated thru the centre. I feel Trengove is the more ready of the top 2 picks to make an immediate impact and would like to see him in the guts in rd 1 (in lieu of Jones) and see him being rotated with Sylvia across the HFF.

I think we're very likely to see Green hold down FF in 2010 for the majority of games. Not only providing support and a foil for Watts (with Miller used sparingly), but also to assist in his development. As a leading forward from the goal square, I believe Green has the potential to kick 60+ goals and coupled with his accuracy makes him the ideal forward mentor for Watts and Jurrah.

This is pretty much where my head is at but don't forget Ricky Petterd, arguably the most versatile player next to Bruce.

Will look to be on a HFF or a wing.

Your the only one with Jurrah at full forward. I really like this idea. Let him play one out in the square, great on the lead, in the air and on the ground.

Makes sense to me.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute.
