Shane Valenti – It was a year of real perseverance for Shane. He kept performing at Casey and didn't break into the side until late in the season. Shane has got a fantastic attitude and just simply finds the footy. He is a very good kick and decision-maker, plus he can play a number of roles. Not only is he a very good stoppage player, he can also play up forward – Sean Wellman on Melbournefc.com.au

Gives his all Valenti. 100%. Unfortunately his best is not good enough. His disposal let's himself down as it did early on in the season when given an opportunity. Was given another opportunity courtesy of the amount of casualty the Demons suffered, and somewhat consistent form in the VFL. Although it must be said, there wasn't many options at Casey at the time.

With the replenishment of quality midfielders in the coming draft for the Demons and the competition for spots in the starting 22, something had to give unfortunately for him.

Yes, sad but true. Given his level of application Shane Valenti is precisely the type of person you want to see make it.

Given where we're at in terms of the 'clock' etc, I don't think there is much point on keeping players who are marked 'depth'.

At the moment, if we have guys on our list who aren't going to be best 18 when we're a decent side then we should look at replacing them with a kid who has more upside.

Unfortunately I think that leaves Valenti out in the cold.

hi all,

I was wondering how he was going? Can someone tell me if he is getting a kick?

I really don’t want to bring up any old conversations about why we let him go (even though I think we did the right thing, not sure how he would fit in to the team at the moment)

But I always like the guy. Heart on the sleeve kind of player and hopefully he is doing really well.

He's found his good level in the VFL for Port Melbourne, where's he's playing well. Saw him in the ABC1 coverage on Saturday.

Plenty of heart, but always too small and slow for AFL.

I always rated Valenti - sorry he was delisted. Pleased to see he is doing well.

And he has those 2 Brownlow votes from last year to hang his hat on - more than many.

I'm extremely surprised he's not running around with the Gold Coast in the VFL this year... if anything he'd be a great VFL body to help protect all the youngsters, and I'm sure he would've been good enough to get a game for the Gold Coast next season...

They did take 3 similar players (Harris, Iles and some other guy) at the start of the rookie draft so they obviously preferred them to Valenti.

Valenti can certainly hold his head high though. Played some decent footy when given a chance and even got a brownlow vote.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
