Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Luke Ball - Think Tank

I heard on the radio this morning, the end of a news statement on MMM (missed the first part) that Luke Ball has stated that he doesn't want to come to the Dees b/c he feels he would not be adequately supported by our midfield.

That's all I heard. Did anyone else catch the full story?

Pretty short sighted of Ball if it's true.

That stinks of Eddie talk

No he is not and there looks to be a few other options.

Not sure how Bailey and Lyons judgement have anything to do with it though

Not adequately supported? Well that would be the opposite to the issues he was having at St Kilda. He can't have it both ways.

Fair slap in the face if true.

Might speak to a lack of confidence in his body's ability to hold up to a full time midfield role (complete with tag).

I'd prefer we looked to someone who has a chance of being in the side when our serious premiership window opens up (as opposite to our "finals window")

Good. I hope he goes in the draft and the Tigers or Freo take him so he can listen to our song for the next 3 years when we play. I'd rather us get someone with some character.

I was listening to 3AW last night & Dwayne Russell mentioned in one quick sentence something about Luke Ball & Richmond. I listened for the next 45 minutes, but nothing more was said & was frustrated that I couldn't get it clarified.

There's doesn't seem to be anything in todays paper OR on any forum regarding Ball/Richmond!!!

A mate of mine is an Old Xav player and friends of Luke Ball. Last Saturday Old Xavs had an end of season [censored] up which Luke Ball attended. My mate told me that late in the day after about 10+ beers Luke was asked about the likelihood of coming to Melbourne. Luke said that initially he was not that interested as he thought that Melbourne had a weak list and was a long way behind the competition, however, he now realises that Melbourne has a very exciting young list. Paul Connors has told him Melbourne will make the finals in 2011 and that he expects Melbourne to be pressing for a flag inside Luke Balls career. My mate told me that although Luke did not say he was coming to Melbourne he gave all the impression that this was the likely outcome.

Granted I have no way of knowing for sure and I've heard it 27th-hand, but isn't Luke Ball still overseas?

I thought Connors said following the conclusion of trade week that Ball was going overseas on holiday for 2 weeks to clear his head & make a decision.

We're not at 2 weeks just yet, let alone last Saturday.

I would've thought if he was in melb he'd have been harassed by Hutchy et al and we'd have seen his face on the news stating "No comment at this stage."

I can confirm that Luke ball went overseas last Sunday the day after the Old Xav end of season [censored] up.

That's reassuring! I'd love to have Luke Ball at the Dees, but only if he wants to come across. It does strike me as odd, however, that a full time professional athlete had not thought about his options and had written off Melbourne as shyte without considering our list-to-be.

In any case, I work a full time job, and love to follow the Dees as a hobby. Luke Ball, on the other hand, is making his career out of the game. If he decides against coming to our club, I would never hold it against him. After all, he needs to make the best of his career as he sees fit. Good luck to him either way. I just don't want him at Melbourne under sufferance, because I know we're better than that.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
