Which KPF should we draft?

Brayshaw Self

I think Butcher is overrated from all reports

There are questions over Panos' ability at senior level

I like Carlisle but he is injury prone

Im with you there,i think it gets harder by the day & id hate to be picking.Just hope the right choice is made for the club.No one on here has seen all the choices up close & live so its all just down to as much as we know or hear at this stage of the game

Question is do we need to get a KPF this year? We could always trade for one next year or when we are trying to the flag?

I think with modern day football they are not as vital, but still are a very good asset so have. Geelong have proven this.

I wouldn't mind getting Aaron Black from WA (the taller Aaron Black). If we go mids 1&2 (which we should), i reckon we have to go tall with picks 11 & 18. I'd prefer to take 2 KPP's rather than 1 KPF and 1 ruck. Rucks can be selected with later picks.

Depending on who's available at 11 (should anyone good drop), i wouldn't mind getting one of Talia/Panos at 11 and Black at 18 (should he be there)

With Watts and Jurrah in the forwardline, I think we need a BIG body to take some attention off then.

Miller could fill this positionwhich would free up Watts who could play a roaming CHF with Jurrah being the 3rd tall, freeing him up aswell.

The big body doesn't need to be a star (as Mr. Morton alluded to Mooney), but I think it would be handy if they could kick a little better than Miller.

I think we draft one KPF with a big body and if a trade possibility arises in the next two years, we jump on it.

My honest opinion i think Taylor Walker is better than all of the KPP in the draft & id give up 11 or 18 to the Crows any day of the week.Hes afew years ahead & just about to take off i think & hes at the stage where you know what your getting.Crows just signed Tippett for 3 years so i think that leaves Walker playing a bit more SANFL,maybe he would want out

Id take aaron black at pic 11, from what ive seen of carlisle i really dont rate him at all.

If butcher slides to 11 no doubt youd take him.

Read in the H-Sun I think it was today, Butcher perhaps falling to 15 to Dogs. You'd take him at 11 IMO. Or Talia.

Agreed we need 2 key forwards from this draft, - Talia, Carlisle, Panos, McDonald, (Aaron Black, I know nothing of), take one @ 11 & another with 18 or 34.

I think we could fit a ruck/follower in there as well, if we trade Jamar, if not we may as well rookie one.

If Taylor Walker's head was in the game I would give pick 11 in a heart beat. Problem is he has a massive attitude problem and he hates football life atm, can't stand football 24/7. This is always something that can be worked on though, e.g. Dangerfield. Can't see us getting our hands on him though.

if some how butcher was still around at 11 you would have to take him.. put panos should be awesome.. would love either one!

Carlisle looks to be ok.. but not fussed if we dont get him.. earliest pick i would use on him is 18

not sure on Griffiths.. seems to be having a lot of injury problems at an early age.. dont know if its worth the risk

Sounds like P Johnson - if we persist, which we should.

article on afl website sai Butchers biggest problem was his kicking ability. As a key forward would have thought that would have been the most important thing.

reckon we take a massive wide berth around butcher. We dont need another player that cant kick esp one whose job would be to kick goals

The first picked whether at 11 or beyond should be SerhatTemel. No doubt he is the best, with the most upside. Kicked 53 goals from the forward line- not always at full forward over around 14 games as spent the most part of early 2009 at CHB.

Kicked 22 goals from 4 finals. We need a big strong athletic forward to go with our others. Has thebuild to be a sensational player. Also please note he did not a pre season last year. Second would be Jack Fitzpatrick(whom also was absent in doing a pre season) These two players suit - the WHAT DO WE NEED NOW slot and they will fit the bill.

I can see Melbourne going for another midfielders at 11. Two reasons for this, this years talls aren't that great and something Schwabby mentioned on his twitter about clubs needing 12+ mids and the comparison to Geelongs current team.

1 - Scully

2 - Trengove

9 - Jetta (if available. I expect West Coast with Pick 7. Jamar + another player to Port for Pick 9)

11 - Panos/Talia

18 - Black/Temel

34 - Majak Daw

Pick 50 - Pass or traded

PSD1 - Best available

No rejects please!!!

nice , if we could pull that would be sitting very pretty for the future, Majak Daw spending time at Casey refining his game

So who will be our #1 ruck? This would leave 3 injury prone ruckmen Meesen, Spencer, Johnson. Meesen and Spencer may develop but are still someway off. Do you not remember the BOGs these ruckmen gave so called "B Grade" ruckmen during the season. Jamar must stay.

I would be prepared to persist with Spencer, Johnson and Meesen. Martin is always there and could be worth giving more time in a ruck role around the ground. If we could add Majak Daw to that list it would be great. Daw to devlope into our No 1 or No 2 because he can play forward.

Pick 9 for Jamar + another list clogger is a steal! Top Ten Pick is well worth it in my books! Jetta, Panos, Talia, Buthcer, Tapscott could all still be there.

Couple Pick 9 and Pick 11 is FAB. I would be stoked if we could get Jetta. Especially that he would like to play with us.

I say KPFs, we can pick up midfielders galore from rookies, and drafts '10-'13 potentially. We need talls this draft to start developing them in time for our premiership window; we can always pick up ready-to-go mids in later drafts, despite the GC's plundering of the draft pools, but we can't really do the same with KPFs.

Having said that if someone like Martin or Rohan were somehow miraculously available I'd take them.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
