Luke Ball

Reading that Ball is out of contract, I am thinking it might be possible that the club knows that he will be available in the PSD. If that is the case, I think we have done brilliantly. If someone better comes along for PSD pick 1, well we have Beamer and Jones, and if not, then we get Ball for nothing, Pick 11 for Brock, and Ball is probably similar (maybe slightly inferior) to Brock anyway!

What's the point of picking him up then?

If anything we should be trying to emulate St Kilda, not take on their fringe players...

Now this bloke would be a leader in his attitude and what he could bring to the Club.

Trade him for the pick number 11 we are getting for Brock and i think we will come out in front.

HAving said that ,two things are certain. Stkilda will not take Fevola nor will they let Ball go !!

I'd like him if we can get him over on the cheap

Cant believe people dont rate Ball,id love to have him at the club & as a past Captain & GF player he has experience & leadership which after McDonald goes would be handy in the Mid.Saying that i wouldnt give up 1,2 o r 11 for him but maybe 18 or a late pick plus a player.Would jump at him in PSD though without a 2nd thought. He just played in a GF & did very well, not everyday you get a chance for a player like that for free.As for being slightly inferior to Mclean you must be kidding,10 times better than Mclean ever will be.Id rate him in the top 20 Mids in the league but Mclean wouldnt make my top 50

brock mclean is the biggest imposter goin around in the AFL since travis jonston and trent grgic, we are better off without them...at least luke ball is a real footballer.

remeber these words Straussski, because in 12 months time you will be eating them....... with a full pre-season under his belt, and the fact that he will never be tagged again, Brock will turn into a very very good midfielder playing for the navy blue scum.

I actually hope you're right and I have to eat my words. I'm all for Carlton players being [censored] and holding their team back.

Never seemed the same player after Wheels destroyed him (and himself) in round 1, 2007.

I can't imagine the laughter that would come from the other side of the table if the Saints were to ask for a first round pick for him.

Word is he's "worth" a 2nd round pick. We have the first 2nd round pick.

And, I am pretty sure we wouldn't try to pick him up in PSD - just not the right thing.

So, if (and that's a big IF) he wanted to come to MFC, we could screw the deal a little and get him for pick 34.

I am rather confused about how the footy world is rating him, so I'm not sure if he'd be a good get or not.

For a cheap price, sure. He's a great wet weather performer, just like Brock was, and I don't think we have too many of that kind in the team...

Not overly excited about him though. The game, when dry (which it seems to be 90% of the time) is really too quick for him.

Can you please expand on this.

St.Kilda was more than happy to take Powell off our hands via the psd, why should we 'do the right thing'?

Didn't know about Powell situation, but plenty of average players go into PSD eg CJ. Powell was average.

I'm remembering Freo, who gave us early 2nd round pick for Farmer; they could have got him in PSD as they had pick 1. I believe Farmer may have insisted on a trade, not PSD route.

Depends on what Ball wants to do. :)

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
