Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm not 100% sure how pick 11 should be valued this year. Nor Brock for that matter. He's had a terrible year, but if he avoids more injuries could still be a very good player. Pace isn't the focus of the Carlton Midfield, and he can fit in for hardness. He could be a very good player for them. I don't think we'll be able to judge who got the better of this deal for a long time to come.

i hate when peolpe compare pick 11 in previous drafts, dont mean [censored]. compare what no. james hird went to previous drafts

He'll excel at Carlton (providing fitness) without a hard tag, feeding the ball out to Gibbs and Murphy. If he can get his fitness back, he'll finish very high in their B&F next season.

The worst thing about this is that McLean could potentially help Carlton win a flag, and I can never ever support or even mildly like any player who wears that filthy navy jumper. So McLean just went from my favourite player, to one of my most hated.

midfield yes , big holes up forward and in defence

I made no mention of previous drafts. When we have a player in place of pick 11 I won't know how to compare him to Brick either. It'll still take years for the value of the deal to either club to be known

Wow.

Everything's already been said basically.

It's pretty sad really, such a great clubman gone, I can't see how we're going to win a premiership with a culture like this.

Pretty amazing to see the number of first time posters!!!!!

Now, let's move on to who we'll pick with #11.....I can't see Talia being around unfortunately.

I really don't see how this applies to the discussion at hand. How does Grimes have any bearing on who we get with pick 11 and how well they end up playing? Does TJ have some influence on whether Brock (not Brick as I may have previously stated) comes back after his injury problems?

From http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=636323 Brock wants to go to the Gold Coast. Melbourne offered a 3 year deal and Carlton 1 year. Carlton's offer allows him to go to the Gold Coast. Is this true?

Why would Carlton trade their first pick for a player they know is going to leave in a year? They won't get a better pick from GC in the next trade period.

Ever thought Brock may be detrimental to the teams culture. His actions (not dollars) in the past have not necessarily been those of someone you'd build a culture around.

Long time listener, first time caller!

Like others, I'm disappointed to lose such a loyal player.

My main concern (like most of yours) is with his reasoning for leaving. It's not like we're a club on the down, and there's definitely no issue with his place in the team.

It's all a little confusing and disturbing atm.

By the way, I've been reading all the banter on Davey. Is there any suggestion he is considering leaving the club, or is it purely the fact that he's unsigned?

I can't imagine him even considering leaving. He loves his mentoring role with the young indigenous players, has real captaincy aspirations, and seems like one of the players least likely to consider moving clubs.

Can someone please confirm who else is currently unsigned?

Cheers!

The Davey rumour came from the guy who gave us the Brock rumour. Given that the Brock one was spot on, many people are worried, but I believe his is the only word we have on the subject so far. There's a bit of a panic about the motivations attributed to Davey.

Not so. Apparently he was offered a new contract with a significant pay cut, in a team with more, and more coming, mid-fielders than a shark has teeth. :)

You've got to be joking!

His indiscretions were incredibly minor.

I don't think there's anybody at the club who would consider Brock detrimental to the club's culture!

Lets not get too excited, he was not the first to mention the Brock rumour and not the first to mention Davey either.

I disagree. The game is evolving all the time. Luke Ball is a better player than McLean and he's on the fringe of the Saints side. Don't we aspire to be a premiership team ?

McLean is very much border line for me already. This will be exacerbated with an influx of midfield talent. There are no guarantees with pick 11, but on the surface I'm pleased with the deal. If someone had said to me a week ago "is Brock worth a top 12 pick", my answer would have been 'doubtful'.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
