BP in the Herald Sun today

The was an interesting article in the little paper today about the fact that BP is not totally discounting the possibility of trading pick 2. He says that it would be highly unlikely but will not rule it out. He also mentioned the club being prepared to aggresively chase the right players if they present themselves. No specifics but it sounds like exciting times ahead. Phase II continues to develop.

We won't trade picks 1 or 2. He's simply 'keeping his options open'. The only reason we wouldn't go with Trengove, is if he doesn't interview well and we perhaps think he might not stay in Melbourne, over an extended period.

I would definately consider trading pick 2 for Boak.

For the most part, ex first round draft picks from interstate clubs are like new cars. The second you wheel them out of the draft room, they instantly lose value. Especially when the people you are dealing with have pick 1 in the PSD.

We wouldn't have to trade pick 2 to get Boak, and wouldn't bother doing it anyway

Not for players who may want to go home.

Have you seen this kid play? Only 21 averaging over 20 possies a game. Is hard at it and a good tackler. He's had games where he has 9 to 10 tackles. A month or 2 ago on Footy Classified they had a stat that when he played Port were at least a 5 goal better side.

The only way I would trade pick 2 is if it was:

1) To Richmond for Vickery and pick 3 or

2) To Port for Boak & picks 8 & 24 if we threw in pick 34 as a sweetner.

I wouldn't go for 1. Vickery done nothing and we are going for a pick less.

Port wouldn't go for 2. A player that demands a top 5 selection and an extra 2 picks in the top 25. You are under selling Boak or over rating pick 2.

Are you kidding you wouldn't go for pick 1?

We're dropping one selection in the draft and getting Vickery! There's no way Richmond would go for it...

If they did we'd take Trengove if the Tigers went for Butcher, or Morabito if the Tigers took Trengove... But there's no way Richmond would do it...

I thought it was pretty obvious. Firstly Vickery WHOPPY DOO pick 7 and has done nothing. Secondly the FD see these players more than we do. What if say Melbourne think Trengrove is a lot better than Morabito or Butcher and Richmond select Trengrove. Why would we want 2 worse picks. Pick 3 would get me interested, Vickery would end that interest.

I'd keep picks 1&2 for the draft. I understand that with Boak as a known - you know what you're getting. But is he really worth losing pick 2 in itself. In my opinion he isn't.

I think someone mentioned swapping pick 2 for Ports first pick (no.8?) and Boak. That might be something Port would consider, and probably Melbourne for that matter.

Do you know if Boak is under contract for next year?

I herd somewhere boak and salopek were recently signed.

Bigfooty i think.

Yes Boak signed on for next year so that pretty much counts us out unless we give up draft pick or trade.Kane Cornes,Justin Westoff,Danyle Pearce & Brett Ebert have all been put up for trade by th Power & said they will probably add 17 more players to that list.

I also am keen on Boak and have a feeling Pearce is on our radar also!

Port have stated ALL players are up as bait!

Pick 2 for Boak not enough though, but not far off, something like 2 & 35 for Boak and Pearce would be ok in my book!

Salopek on our list also, im hearing Jamar rumours with Port also..

Love it! Doubt Port would though, we'd need to add another pick, say 55 etc..

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
