Does the fact that he has played less than 10 games make him eligible for the Rising Star next year?

Could be the 1st RS, Brownlow and Coleman ever.

he'll be too old for the Rising Start next year.....bugger...hed walk away with it

Cult Number, Cult Name...And to the above poster who was talking about what he could've done at Draft camp...Thank [censored] he didn't go!!

Correct. Good point.

I think so. Nathan Jones got nominated two years running ...I think.

He averages over 2.0 goals a game. A full season will see him net over 50 goals IMO. (conservative).

edit: too old...bugger.

He was one of the first to mob Wheats after his supergoal in the final qtr. He's not only a sublimely talented footballer, but even after 9 games is already an essential part of what defines the team and the club.

He has a bit of nasty in him too, which I reckon will hold him in good stead for the rest of his career while he gets hassled by defenders.

He isn't affraid to give as good as he gets.

Youre right..I noticed from that very first outing he has that bit of a niggle about him. He is very much at HOME on a football field and not reticent to inform others about it...

Over the recent journeys of this club some very good players have pulled on the jumper and run out to Demonise the oppositionand yet in recent times we've been ( as a club and its spectators ) starved of that....well many call it the "X" factor...or 'star' quality. We have lacked someone exciting that brings a little bit of football magic to the game. Davey amongst his earlier outings had it but all too soon others worked him out. Jurrah brings this to our game now. No disprespect to Aaron but I dont hink many will have it so easy to negate Liams ability to affect a game. Just too many strings to too many bows. Its as though here's a man who's Dreamtime is shaped as that of a Red Sherrin...not a red rock !!

Many observers of the game ( Melbourne or not ) will one day pinpoint the time that Melbourne began its course to Prermiership destiny as the moment Liam Jurrah took to the field as Melbourne player #48. It may well be fired on by others as well..but it started that day !!

One can concentrate on the one-handed mark and the over-the-head kick from distance, I am equally as impressed by the pin-point pass to ?Robbo between 5 defenders in the first quarter; the tackling; and the hit-out mentioned above. With a pre-season, the Club's continued support and some luck, Liam could be better than Adam Goodes. In fact, he could become as good as Robbie. A 49yo Melbourne supporter cannot give higher praise or have higher hopes.

Thanks Liam!

Wow, 86 replies and over 2000 views in less than 24 hours, that tells you how popular this bloke is with Melbourne fans.

On a side issue it gives the lie to chasing overseas players when there are so many more to find in Oz. I wonder how many AFL quality players are running around in country and metropolitan leagues who never nominated for the draft but are still young enough to have careers in the AFL.

good pickup.. was a beautifully measured kick. he just THINKS footy..and seems to do it all in his own time dimension. A couple of times he seemed way off the play...but then he was suddenly there collaring someone...bloody astute this bloke ..and deceivingly quick :)

Down in Melbourne with Liams cousin and uncle to attend the Rising Star Function today with RudeBoy. An incredibly proud day for Yuendumu Community and all Warlpiri people. Its beyond pride actually, we are simply inspired by the heights that Liam has soared to this year. So many have done so much to help this dream come true from the desert, but it was Liams talent, and most of all his commitment, courage and character that really made it happen.

I think AJ was winning games off his own boot in his first year too, but he also played in a good side!

In all seriousness, KB and the AA mob might as well fill Jurrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in the forward line of the AA for the next 10 years.

I have not been this excited about a player since AJ and the OX.

How many days till the draft and till the Season, We need a count down clock!

His "hand of god" mark must be a contender for mark of the year.. Was so sublimely elegant ..and how simple..to think ..all you do is stick you hand up to where the ball has al but passed you and steal it from the opposition. Even he was a little surprised..but not totally I noticed.. :D
That was actually his third "hand of god" mark this year. One against Geelong and one against Sydney in Manuka as well as that one on Sunday. The one in Canberra was really amazing. He seemed to just use his fingertips. He is a supremely talented footballer.

I am concerned that they don't attempt to bulk him up too much. He is strong enough to do what he does. I don't want him to lose his uncanny ability to 'float'.

I think they are well aware not to weight him down. I would presume a good preseason would improve strength and tone. Still,he looks in pretty good nick. :)

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
